Re: Where can I find this game?

I tested openTTD in last summer on my Debian freerunner. Then it needs
one-mouse-button-patch, but I think it is now merged to official.
(somewhere in options-menu).
Game was playable, when TransportTycoon deluxe was released all
monitors are 640x480.
Network-multiplaying works. Sound effects works, midi-audio didn't work.

Packaging it is hard, because it needs propriety-data-files. (ok,
debian etc. has packed it) But they are making also gpl-ed data-files,
I do not know how ready this project is.

 Upgrade howto:

From Om2008.9 it's recommanded to upgrade with the following steps:

 task-base-usbgadget avahi-daemon avahi-autoipd blueprobe \

 Known issues:

 * GTK redraw problem
 * some obsolete kernel modules still left in system
 * must remove 'ro' in kernel boot parameter if you use sd boot.
 * will purge your incompatible e config, so you might need to set
   stuffs like suspend time again.

 Echo:

Since there are different hw versions out there (a5, a6, a7), it's
impossible to provide one alsa state file that suits all models.
However, it seems you can always find appropriate values for your
neo. My way is to adjust
 control.4 Speaker Playback Volume in
 /usr/share/openmoko/scenarios/gsmhandset.state

the max value is 127, 95 works best on my a5. With volume level 3 or
4 in qtopia dialer, the other side can hear no echo while I get good
 audio quality.

 Team update:

Tick helped to put his touchscreen improvement into stable-tracking,

Can I invite you to put this on wiki?
Like other ?

Brenda

Thomas White ??:
While waiting for the Christmas puddings to cook this afternoon, I've
been making a few updates to OpenMooCow. You can get version 0.2 from
 the same place as before:
 http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~taw27/openmoko/openmoocow/

 Changes since version 0.1 are:

 - Moos when tilted either up or down (not just after tilting both ways
like before). This seems to be what people expect, even though it's not
quite what I remember genuine mooboxes doing.

 - The packaging has been fixed to depend on the things it needs.

 - You can now press the cow to make her moo.

 - Mooing still occurs even if the graphics can't be shown. Run the
following on a terminal and your Freerunner will be mooing until the
 next reboot: $ nohup openmoocow

And some improvements under the hood:

 - It should behave a little better if the accelerometers are sticky.

 - Code simplified and altered to make it easier to add support for
 other types of accelerometer.

OpenMooCow won't alter your accelerometer parameters in any way,
so you might have a configuration which it doesn't like. In particular,
the threshold setting can cause problems. If this happens to you, try
 this: # echo 0 /sys/devices/platform/lis302dl.2/threshold

Comments or abuse to this address as ever,

 Tom

I'm also noticing today that the batget utility is blocking (using top),
sometimes several instances get caught up and the phone starts to slow.
removed the battery module (its utterly useless in illume anyway) and
things run much better.

Overall though, there are fewer problems than 2008.9 :)

microsSD doesn't mount any more!

Dear Group,

I know that this topic isn't new to that list but after spending a lot of
time searching the archives, I decided to re-initiate it cause didn't find a
solution and got rather confused :(

I recently installed a new Transcend microSD 8GB card and FR did recognize
it without any problem! I then tried debian on FR, and the card was
partitioned accordingly! After that, needed the card for soemthing else, did
re-partition it on a debian box (fdisk, mkfs) and when I re-inserted in FR
it doesn't get recognised any more!

When in BootLoader, shows that there is a card of 3MB and when I boot
with the latest 2008.9 jffs I get following dmesg output:

[ 30.365000] Buffer I/O error on device mmcblk0, logical block 8

[ 34.84] FAT: bogus logical sector size 65535

I know that other people had similar or exactly the same problem but
couldn't figure out if they found a solution to that.

Any help is much appreciated.

Battery charge

2008-12-05 Thread Giorgio Marci
Hi to all,

i've flashed my new neo twice without full charging before and i had
problems to boot at the second time (i guess energy issue).

So i've booted successfully the neo with an external battery, plug in the
charger and repleced the external battery with the neo battery.

Now the problem is that the battery indicator is still red and seems
don't charge my battery, in the mean time the aux led is on..

what's mean? is it normal? what's mean the aux led always on? is my
battery charging?

thanks very much

[Qt Extended]Graphical server doesn't boot

2008-12-05 Thread ø
I'm using Qt Extended 4.4.2 flashed into the phone (Freerunner). For
weeks it has worked perfectly (or the most perfect a distribution can
work on the neo).

This morning, it went out of battery. I don't know if it booted
correctly, since I was sleeping.

When I have plugged it into the computer, it doesn't boot. Well, at
least not Qt Extended. The boot process goes well, it casts the same
amount of error as usual, but at one point this happens:

Starting at daemon atd.
splash-write: appplet not found
Segmentation fault

Then, the screen is deleted and you only see a text cursor flashing,
like it was loading a graphical server. From time to time, it seems it
try to bring some screen, but fails (I think I cannot explain better).

Net is initialized, so I can ssh into my phone, but I don't know what to
do. I have no found sytem logs, nor graphical server log, nor anyother
useful log.

I have looked in the list, but no one seems to have the same problem.

Any advice?

(It was important that I had my phone usable today T_T).

that answers the question I asked and the subject is closed.

There is always the benefit of free marketing, when someone wear a shirt
with openmoko or similiar on it. They may sell more phones.

Or you could sell T-shirts, and collect some money to fund a developer
for some time. Better software gives more sales.

There are other ways of support than direct money transfer, if you're

- cd into the dir where you have adb downloaded
- connect freerunner with usb cable and start android on it

- as root:
ifconfig usb0 192.168.0.199 up
- kill process adb fork-server server if running (find it with: ps aux |
grep adb)
- then do as root

Re: [OM2008.8][testing] qpe no longer respects QTOPIA_PHONE_DEVICE ?

2008-12-05 Thread Vasco Névoa

There is no problem with QPE and the QTOPIA_PHONE_DEVICE var.

The problem is that gsm0710muxd gets started twice (via rc.d init
scripts AND the dbus request inside 89qtopia) and QPE gets a bogus
ptsvar and falls back to /dev/ttySAC0.
I removed the rc.d startup of the muxer because dbus is capable of
launching it upon request:
update-rc.d -f gsm0710muxd remove
And it all works (GSM+GPRS)! :)

Citando William Kenworthy [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

I'm also noticing today that the batget utility is blocking (using top),
sometimes several instances get caught up and the phone starts to slow.
removed the battery module (its utterly useless in illume anyway) and
 things run much better.

Overall though, there are fewer problems than 2008.9 :)

In Italy only an operator uses it, but I'm using it; that's why I've

Btw, the fact that the dialer exits after dialed, it's normal (it should
indicate that the USSD request has been placed). The problem with the
latest qtopia-x11, however, is that it uses a wrong way to send the
request. I'm using a workaround to it (the patch is in trac) but I know
that could be improved. I don't know if I can easily provide binaries

It depends which version of which distro, and possibly which kernel. In at

You can always use the /sys interface to find out what the kernel thinks is
