Using the mutagen ipk from opkg.org results in failure, remotely and
locally. Anyone have suggestions on a work-around?

FYI, version 0.5.7. is now available on opkg.org.

* Seeking works again (gstreamer).
* Random play implemented (gstreamer).
* Pulled in misc., minor GUI enhancements from Paul TT (developer from
whom the this version was branched).
* Moved settings around in config. file. All file browsing-related
settings are now in one place.
* Default music path is now home directory and fixed bug for inability
to navigate if initial music path does not exist.
* Added icon for .desktop file (borrowed from SHR).
* Known issue: Seeking while the repeat function is enabled for MP3
files causes the next instance of the song to play incorrectly.

How to fix missing icons in SHR-Unstable

2009-03-07 Thread The Digital Pioneer
Hey, all. I've heard the devs are going to release a fix for the missing
icons in SHR soon, but for those like me who just can't wait, I think I've
got a fix. I've attached a file which needs to be put into /etc/xdg/menus/
and that should get your icons back. If it doesn't, let me know and I'll try
to figure out what else I did.

Hi,

I just run the Kustomizer 0.35 on a fresh 2008.12.

There are no application-categories (as I see from the screenshoots) , every
application is on the "desktop".

is it a bug?

[debian] Illume won't show any icons

2009-03-07 Thread Jeffrey Ratcliffe
Following this thread:

http://lists.openmoko.org/nabble.html#nabble-td2315355

I installed menu-xdg, deleted ~/.e and restarted e, and was able to
choose Enlightenment (Applications), but I still see no icons.

What else do I have to do?

Illume is in black and white. Is this supposed to be the case?

[debian] xfce and xglamo

2009-03-07 Thread Fox Mulder
Hi all,

today again i tried to use xglamo instead of fbdev as x11 driver.
I used the description in the wiki from [1]. Now with the -dpi 96 option
on the first look the desktop looks the same like with fbdev but it
feels a bit more responsive and faster. :)
I also edited my ~/.xsession and put "export GTK_MODULES=libgtkstylus.so
&" in it how it is described at [2] to get a right click.

One minor problem i encountered so far is that i can't produce a right
click. But i must admit that i even don't know how to do the right click
with libgtkstylus. With the tslib patch from Sebastian Ohl i just had to
tap >0.5s on the same spot to activate right click, but this didn't work
with libgtkstylus.
I also don't know which settings in the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file are
correct for libgtkstylus to work. At the moment i got [3] in the Section
"InputDevice". The wiki page doesn't say anything about these two
settings for libgktstylus. Only for tslib patch the settings are specified.
So is there any way to do the right click or is the info in the wiki
just wrong and it doesn't work?

The second problem (which is the real blocker) is that some programs use
a way too large font. It is so huge that i can't use them. Interestingly
some other programs use the right font size. So maybe i have to install
some fonts or change some settings so all programs use the right size.
Does somebody know how to solve this font problem?

I searched the mailinglist but can't find (or overlooked) an answer to this.

Ciao,
 Rainer

I too have been tracking the unstable images and slowly digging in to
the code to try and contribute.

First the answer:

You can get back to using illume by logging in with SSH and doing

opkg remove paroli-autostart
rm -rf /home/root/.e
reboot

You should then get the illume launcher on next boot and be able to
launch paroli as a regular application. There are still problems with
the sizing as the current paroli only works properly as a stand alone
application. It does have a setting in /etc/paroli/paroli.cfg to turn
off standalone but not all the applications, particularly the dialer,
honour it as the screen is too large and the bottom portion is cut off.

Second a bit of a rant:

I have to say that I am extremely disappointed in this decision to
prevent users from using the functionality of their phone. Why would
anyone want to purchase a piece of hardware with as much promise as the
freerunner and not be able to use it for anything but what a sub $50
dollar phone has been able to do for years? It just doesn't make sense
to me when it seems so easy to shrink paroli down a little bit and use
illume. I have wondered for some time about why Paroli was duplicating
functionality from illume. (e.g. the Battery level) Now I understand and
I am flabbergasted. Yes I do want stable phone functionality but not at
the expense of all other functionality.
