git.openmoko.org / GTA02 kernel sources?

2010-04-22 Thread Dr. H. Nikolaus Schaller
I tried to fetch the latest kernel sources from
http://git.openmoko.org/?p=kernel.git;a=summary
for learning something, but it appears that the server has some
failure:

iMac:tmp hns$ git clone git://git.openmoko.org/git/kernel.git linux-2.6
Initialized empty Git repository in /private/tmp/linux-2.6/.git/
remote: fatal: Out of memory, realloc failed
remote: aborting due to possible repository corruption on the remote
side.
fatal: early EOF
fatal: index-pack failed
iMac:tmp hns$

So my main question is where I can get recent enough kernel sources
from?

That also raises more general questions:
* who (person, company) is responsible for git.openmoko.org?
* even more general: who is responsible for openmoko.org?
* if nobody, how can we protect that it suddenly completely disappears
because some room manager unplugs the power cord or nobody pays the
annual fee for the domain registration?

BR,
Nikolaus

Hi,
in git current theme is under etc/themes/finxi/ The layout is described with
xml files and you can of course change icons/background and other stuff.

It should be possible to edit the theme also on phone. The theme is there
split on sever directories like:

/opt/qtmoko/etc/themes/finxi
/opt/qtmoko/pics/themes/finxi

I would start with modifying the finxi theme and when you are done i'd just
rename it and put in git.

Good luck with new theme

Hi! this is just a feedback. I'm using qtmoko v21 on gta02 v7 with an italian
vodafone sim.
I tried to send a long sms (3 pages) without succes receiving the usual
error message about sending sms. The receiver received only a part of the
sms.
Instead receiving long sms seems to work well, I received a 4 pages long sms
without problem.
Also, it happend two times that after a suspend the moko didn't recover, I
had to remove the battery.

Re: community Digest, Vol 180, Issue 6

2010-04-22 Thread Toby D. Young

Florian and Radek and others,

Thanks alot for your attentions. I started again from zero... reflashed
my neo (and then: apt-get update, apt-get install gpsd). Still no GPS;
NeronGPS is permanently stuck in waiting for a fix...

I need gpsd right? There seems to be some confusion about this...?

(1) I have modified the sysfs node pointer such that:

neo:~# cat /opt/qtmoko/bin/gps-poweron.sh

#!/bin/sh

if [ -e /sys/bus/platform/devices/neo1973-pm-gps.0 ]; then
  echo 1
 /sys/devices/platform/s3c2440-i2c/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0073/pcf50633-regltr.7/neo1973-pm-gps.0/power_on
 fi
if [ -e /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0073/neo1973-pm-gps.0/pwron ];
then echo 1
 /sys/devices/platform/s3c2440-i2c/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0073/pcf50633-regltr.7/neo1973-pm-gps.0/pwron
 fi

I then ran dpkg-reconfigure gpsd to get:

neo:~# cat /etc/default/gpsd

# Default settings for gpsd.
# Please do not edit this file directly - use `dpkg-reconfigure gpsd' to
# change the options.
START_DAEMON=true
DAEMON_OPTS=
DEVICES=/dev/ttySAC1
USBAUTO=false

from which (after switching on GPS in devtools)

neo:~# head -n 20 /dev/ttySAC1
$GPTXT,01,01,02,u-blox ag - www.u-blox.com*50

$GPTXT,01,01,02,$GPRMC,,V,,N*53

$GPVTG,N*30

$GPGGA,,0,00,99.99,,*48

$GPGSA,A,1,99.99,99.99,99.99*30

$GPGSV,1,1,00*79

$GPGLL,,V,N*64

$GPZDA,00,00*48

$GPRMC,,V,,N*53

$GPVTG,N*30

I like running cat /dev/ttySAC1 and switching on/off GPS in devtools,
and I get the expected behaviour; so I believe GPS is being switched on
and off correctly. Does that look right? Any ideas what I am missing
here?

Apart from this problem (and some weird uSD card behaviour), I am really
happy with QTMoko; thanks alot for this!

Best,
Toby

Even I have faced this issue. Actually 2 times just today. Over the
week it has happened quite a few times. The only pattern that I can
see if this issue is more prominent if I manually suspend the phone.
(i.e. short-press the power button).

A bit of detail on my issue:
When I try to resume, (sometimes) the display is shown properly, but
the touch screen is still turned-off I guess. I can see everything on
the phone, if I get calls, I can see them, but can't answer. Even the
hardware keys work fine (the AUX button brings up the Task Manager)
but I can't touch anything.

You can use it to set volume up/down, but it cannot store alsa state file. You
would have to run qalsamixer, make call, tweak volumes, save the state from

Right, i agree. In my case, if I point the browser to my https web page,

Removing dependent libs?

2010-04-22 Thread Gay, John (GE Infra, Energy, Non-GE)
I tried installing arora on H:1 just to try a different web browser
experience and it installed quite a few qt libs as dependencies. I
wasn't impressed with it and removed it, but can't find an easy way to
remove these un-used libs?

I remember debian used to have a simple tool to check for and remove
orphaned libs, but I don't remember what it's called. I'm also slightly
nervous it might remove some libs that aren't orphaned, just not
properly listed.

Anyone know an easy way to check the dependencies for an app?

deborphan
or
apt-get autoremove

deborphan only lists, apt-get autoremove will ask you for confirmation to
remove. use -s to do a dry run.

well, if the packages is in status install ok installed, everything
should be there.
do

dpkg -s packagename

for information on the package's status, description and the list of
dependencies (field Depends:).

dpkg -C

prints a list of packages not installed correctly or nothing, if there are
none.
