If you can solder 0402, yes. For details see [1].

No, if you don't upgrade software it stays the same and most users are
able to find something that works stable enough.
Do you mean om softwares ?

I mean software you use on the phone.

I wouldn't have paid extra for the pouch,  but my Freerunner came with
one and I use it.  I keep it in my pocket, clipped to a belt loop.
The pouch protects the screen from getting scratched up with the other

,How much are lenght and width sizes of FR ? Do you advice using
invisble shield ,wont invisble shield make screen sensitivity to

I use screen protection from day 1. It's a regular PDA screen
protector, bought in a nearby cellphone shop. I don't think it
 decreases TS precision.
With invisible-shield would FR place in trousers packets easily ?
would you link that pda screen protector ?any picture ?

I can't see how invisible-shield can affect placing device in
pockets. To get a general idea of what is that, see [2]. Or go to the
nearby cell phone shop, i hope they have some.

In another thread on this list somebody mentioned that the specific

I do not advise you to fix the Freerunner yourself.  Just purchase a
buzz-fixed version.
Would you explain more ?why ?

I did not know that the buzz-fixed version is more expensive. Still,
I *strongly* suggest that you not attempt to solder the Freerunner
yourself. The circuit is very small and you need special tools. An
ordinary hand soldering iron will not work. Have you soldered
cell-phones before? If not, I recommend not treating your Freerunner
as a learning experience. Remember the old adage, experience is
proportional to the amount of equipment destroyed. If you still want
to do the buzz fix yourself, I think Paul's suggestion was excellent,
try soldering an SMD (Surface Mount Device) onto an old video card
first.

It is long time just debian based have been used on pc ,there is not
 problems and knowing linuxs .

Wonderful! You will feel at home on your Freerunner.

but important question , does FR catch owner time each day for any reason
?e.g for almost all activity with FR should users  spend time each day ?

I am sorry. I don't understand your question. Are you asking if the
Freerunner requires daily maintenance? If so, the answer is no.
You can simply use the Freerunner as a phone, if you wish.

The pouch protects the screen from getting scratched up
So why dont you use invisible shield ?

I did not have an InvisibleShield before. I have ordered one now and
I may stop using the pouch. On the other hand, the InvisibleShield
looks to be a sticker and it might peel off in my pocket.

are lenght and width sizes of FR ?

The Freerunner is a bit thicker than the latest cellphones, but
comfortably fits in my blue jeans (denim trousers) front pocket, even
with the pouch. I've also carried the Freerunner easily in the breast
pockets of my shirt and coat.

Do you advice using invisble shield ,wont invisble shield make screen
 sensitivity to be decreased ?

I've read, and believe, that sensitivity will be the same. The
InvisibleShield is extremely thin (0.2mm). The Freerunner I purchased
came with a clear plastic sheet covering the screen that was thicker
than an InvisibleShield. The stylus worked fine through that sheet
with no apparent loss of sensitivity.

Do I really have to try that to prove it's wrong? I think that after
properly shaping the tip (as a flat screwdriver) 0402 can be easily
desoldered (given that ordinary hand soldering iron is not too
big). I have pics where i desoldered and soldered back the wire
between capacitors with a ridiculously big old soldering iron.

[SHR-U] Perma-block a Number

2009-06-14 Thread The Digital Pioneer
Hey, I'm on SHR-Unstable and every now and then I get a call from 8664693328
and it's always a call bugging me about either my car warranty expiring or
getting cheap health insurance. Now, I just bet there's a way to edit a YAML
file or something to automatically block calls from that number before the
phone starts ringing. Can anyone suggest a way? I don't mind dirty hacks, so
long as it works. I'm tired of accidentally picking up these calls and
getting charged for it.

I could do it in ogsmd, but I right now I still believe blacklisting should
rather be implemented in the dialer application. As a quickhack for your
problem, you could do something like:

I think Zag has a special model that fits, but. I just bought a screen
protector, cut it in two pieces (you may say i got 2 protectors for
the price of one), then i disassembled my FR, cut the piece to cover
the whole LCD (no real precision needed, as you can go with large +
tolerance), assembled it again. Easy.

Re: Navit internal GUI

2009-06-14 Thread Christian Rüb
I have used navit for a while now and today I have updated to
svn-2314. It gets better and better, but I still have my problems with
some parts of the internal GUI.

When adding more bookmarks than the screen can display I have no
option to scroll in the bookmark list. So more than a hand full
of bookmarks are unusable. (If I am not missing any way to lookup the
 bookmarks)

When displaying the route description a next and prev button is shown
and this could be used for all list data.

Thinking about bookmarks, why not adding a feature to the address book
to start navit with the contact as destination?
 (Or correlate the data anyhow)

Good point, if PIM could hold a value for coordinates it should not be too hard
to implement this in any address book app.
It's 2 dbus calls to get the navit instance and another to set destination [1]

I did this with dbus-send after activating dbus interface of navit in navit.xml
(centering works the same way as setting destination...):
dbus-send --print-reply --session --dest=org.navit_project.navit
/org/navit_project/navit org.navit_project.navit.iter
dbus-send --print-reply --session --dest=org.navit_project.navit
/org/navit_project/navit org.navit_project.navit.get_navit
objpath:/org/navit_project/navit/main_iter/0
dbus-send --print-reply --session --dest=org.navit_project.navit
/org/navit_project/navit/navit/0 org.navit_project.navit.navit.set_center

Microphone busted after buzz-fix

2009-06-14 Thread Tomas Riveros Schober
Hello List,

I have 2 freerunners and both were A5's. I have a friend that is
experienced soldering and doing reworks and he performed the buzz-fix on
both freerunners. However, one of those seems to have the microphone not
working anymore. The other Neo was fixed correctly (despite having
different resistors or whatever, the interference was reduced a lot).

Any suggestions on how to diagnose it correctly?
I already loaded the A7 state file (which works wonders on the other
neo), tried different distros.

Is there any kind of warranty (i know there's not an official one)
from openmoko in case i need to ship it back to taiwan or something?

Since I'm in Chile and no local distributor is available, I had to
perform the fix unoficially.

Thanks for the time
