Free runner doesnot power up

2009-08-08 Thread RANJAN
Hi,

I have not been using my free runner for about a week.I tried to turn it on
by pressing the power button but it does not.I have plugged in the Charger
and pressed the power button but still it does not turn on .I even tried NOR
boot with Aux and power button but still it does not turn on.Is it that the
device is dead or the battery just need to be charged for some hours before
I can use it again?

Please let me know.(It is chaos for me right now).

Just take the battery out once, put it back again and let it charge for a
couple of hours and it will work. Or use a nokia BL 4 or BL 5 battery to
start it up. Better still read the power FAQ on the wiki.

Re: Freerunner audio channels

2009-08-08 Thread Paul Fertser
David Fokkema dfokk...@ileos.nl writes:
The fact that Freerunners differ in audio quality and settings has been
stated on this list and on support. And going by the last paragraph,
 this is true.

 So, _why_ are Freerunners different?

One of the problems is that some freerunner revisions are in fact
different in hardware. Most devices have 1uF capacitors instead of
R3004/R3005 (which should be 0R), and that's not a joke. That is
earpiece path and not surprisingly that devices that have those
capacitors have considerably lower sound volume from the earpiece.

Unfortunately, there's no way to find out which devices are affected
by this bug judging only by revision and serial number as BOMs were
lost due to an incorrect file format conversion, one needs to actually
try and see for himself.

AFAICT A7s are affected while at least some A6s (mine e.g.) not.

Freerunner for sale! (Germany)

I'm selling my Freerunner (originally sold by Pulster). I used it for about a
year, so it's not really in mint condition, but it's ok. Everything works, but
there's a small (3mm) but visible scratch in the middle of the display. I got
the buzzfix by golden delicious, so it comes with a second new battery. You get
everything from the original packaging:

Openmoko Freerunner with Buzzfix
Power cable with two adaptors
Laserpen (w/o batteries)
USB-cable
black/green box
Invoice
2 original batteries
512MB uSD-card
Original Invoice and Handbook.

If you are interested, make me a reasonable offer in EURO via mail:

Hi there,

So far no luck with getting an SSH connection to the FreeRunner.

I've followed the wiki man pages to the letter
(http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/USB_Networking) as Angus suggests. But this did
not change the result.

Basically these were the same steps I was already doing (except I need to
modprobe g_ehter first).

I'm still getting the no route to host error.

Disabling my PC wlan connection does not help.

Any thoughts?

RE: Unabel to SSH into Neo Freerunner

2009-08-08 Thread Niels Heyvaert

And so, it worked.

As usual, this turned out to be an RTFM problem.

I had to use eth2 instead of usb0. By looking at ifconfig -a and dmesg I was
able to see that the MAC address on eth2 was the same as the one of the new USB
device... This is actually mentioned on the wiki page we were referring to.

I tend to skip to the code snippets and only read the paragraphs above and
below... Need to take more time to read the valuable bits of text preceding
those snippets.

Let's hope I learned something from it.

Thanks for the help.
