Actually it may be related to that, but this was a QtExtended bug, if it ever got a 0 returned for the battery capacity, rather than ignoring it as a transient error, it presumed the battery was a dumb battery, and switched forever to a mode that no longer exists in the kernel for detecting the voltage of a dumb battery. Re: Small improvements suggestion to intone
Hi. Some weeks ago, i suggested that intone should request the bluetooth ressource when using a BT headset, and you told me it was already done. I made some tests this morning : - start intone, by default mine is set to BT headset - try to play a track : bluetooth doesn't get enabled, playback will fail with 'Can't stream to bluetooth' - go into settings, output will have fall back to speakers - switch to bt headset, then the ressource gets requested. So about this, i have two comments : - could intone request the ressource on startup, if it's already set to bt headset? - i never listen to music via the headset, but sometimes playback fails (e.g. i forgot to poweron my headset). Maybe in that case, the settings should be kept to 'headset' anyway? Also, i noticed something else : if you made a call using a bt headset, first song playback using intone will fail : i hear myself and the surroundings noises in the headset, as if i was using it for a call. After a few seconds, i hear a crank, and the device disconnects. After that, i can stream music using intone (i don't recall if intone freezes at this point everytime or only sometimes). On the other hand, if i make a call using the headset, then play a song using mplayer -ao alsa:device=bluetooth then it works (the headset switches back to a2dp mode). I hope you can fix theses issues.. recommendations for headset or 3.5mm adapter
Hi all! I'm still looking for a solution to use earphones/headset on the freerunner. I've got the official openmoko headset, but I don't like those in-ear headphones, either they just fall out or are very uncomfortable to wear. So I'm still looking for a good alternative to use headphones on the freerunner. So far I have not found a compatible headset or adapter that I could use. I know the wiki entry about this, but that didn't help much. So what do you use? Does anyone know of a good headset or adapter that works with the freerunner and is available in germany? The web approach is interesting. Ideally, one should expose some hooks via REST-like URIs (dbus-mapping or something?), and then let much of the interface build itself client side, javascript-style. The FR is such a weak beast that it would be better to let as much work as possible occur on the strong (e.g. desktop) side. Just my two cents. I just found the bug in QtMoko for this, and will submit the patch to Radek. Ah! Nice - thanks a lot. Basically it was not detecting the not charging but plugged in correctly and someone had added a hack to turn off charging that was causing it to restore the screen every time it sampled the battery state. It also wrote the power settings to the config file every time too, that is every few seconds. BTW it only happened when it was plugged in but fully charged. Re: Updated package for the puzzle collection
EdorFaus wrote: On Tuesday 22 September 2009 19:46:50 Steven ** wrote: Perhaps you could do both? By default, install a wrapper script. But also provide a second ipk that creates all the .desktop files for each game. I ended up doing this, but in reverse: by default, install all the .desktop files, but if a launcher is installed, remove them automatically (until launcher is removed). See below for details. I've also created a simple launcher - my thanks to MiPal on opkg.org, who showed me (with an example) that it wasn't very difficult to make such things with Elementary, and thus pointed me in the right direction for making one. It will be packaged separately, once I find the time to do it properly, and will work with the new version of the base package. I only play 3 or 4 of the 24 games anyways... I don't play all of them either. Maybe we could come up with some system for the .desktop files that would let the user disable some, without having them return when the package is upgraded (like they would if they were deleted)? I've now created such a system. Does the following sound usable? (I'm working on finishing the packaging and setting up a public svn repo for it, and will post the new version of the package once that's ready.) The package no longer contains the .desktop files directly, but instead installs a script that generates and removes them, which is called automatically by postinst/prerm. This is based on an included file containing information on all of the games, that can also be used by a launcher to make its own list of games (like my launcher above does). This script looks for a has-launcher file in a specific shared location, and if it exists, removes all the .desktop files instead of installing them (thus removing all the icons except the launcher). This makes it relatively simple for a launcher package to get rid of the other icons, just include that file and call the script to update them in postinst and postrm (to get them back when removing the launcher). (There will be an example of this, is the package for my launcher.) This script can also be called manually, with parameters for disabling and enabling individual desktop icons (regardless of having a launcher or not), without having them just return when the package is updated. This means that people who only play a few games can have just those icons on the desktop, without a separate launcher. It's also possible to have a launcher, but still keep some of the icons on the desktop - which could be useful if you play a few games often, but still play the others sometimes. To do this, it keeps a config file in /etc/sgt-puzzles.conf that it edits when the user changes something. Soo... What do you think? Too horrible to ship? Or maybe even usable? Oh, and, for simplicity I'm thinking it's best to use the MIT license for this code (the part in the base puzzles package anyway), since the games are under the MIT license - but IANAL, so I don't know if there are any (significant) negative consequences of this... Hi, I have uploaded to http://github.com/wolfmanjm/qtrotate an example program using my RotateHelper class that auto rotates the screen based on the device orientation. The two files rotate.h and rotate.cpp are designed to be self contained, so it is easy to add auto rotate to any qtmoko program, with a few lines of code. See the README and included here... A simple self contained routine that will enable a QTE app to rotate the screen depending on orientation To use... #include rotate.h // create an instance of RotateHelper RotateHelper *rh= new RotateHelper(); // then start it off.. rh-start(); // the default sample rate is 500ms // to stop it... rh-stop(); // to restore to upright... rh-restore(); The only files you need to put in your project are rotate.h and rotate.cpp -- Jim Morris, http://blog.wolfman.com ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

Can you confirm that the new messages on rescan are actually new and not messages that you've deleted? Messages in the SIM do not get deleted from opim. Rescanning restores those sms's. I'm waiting for opim to handle that. Yes they were new messages that were not being displayed. Please do report back. Thanks.
