QtMoko v16
Hi, new images of QtMoko are released! They can be downloaded from sourceforge as usually [1]. QtMoko is stable distribution based on Debian and Qtopia. For more info see [2][3] and also [4] when it works (thanks Fabio if you manage to fix it). Changes from previous version: * Hopefully SMS receiving is fixed (mwester) * Multiplexing can be enabled in configuration file * Glamo SD card clocking workaround * Updated kernel * Fixed fso-keyring to latest version (ghislain) * Using Debian toolchain This is mainly bug fixing release. I hope SMS receiving is now OK thanks to old patch from Mike Westerhof. Modem multiplexing can be now enabled if you edit /opt/qtmoko/etc/default/Trolltech/Modem.conf and change [Multiplexing] Active=yes The kernel is latest andy-tracking and has FIFO fix from Thomas White which could give some more performance. Fso-keyring should give no more warnings when working with apt-get. Last thing is updated toolchain. It's a bit modified toolchain from emdebian project. All libs and compiler version should match debian lenny, so the linker warning from previous version are gone. And also compiler is newer version so maybe it is also a bit faster. If you take a look at my debian_rootfs.txt howto in GIT, there are instructions how to create the toolchain and it can be downloaded from SF [1]. Sorry if some of your favourite bugs are not fixed in this version, but hey - it's not last version :-) Thanks to everybody who helped with this version. [shr-u] GPS not working
Hello list, since i installed the latest SHR-U GPS seem to not work at all. The SHR GUI for reading satellites shows no entry at all even after 20 minutes outside. I think that may be related to the following problem with the interface naming extracted from frameworkd.log: 2009.12.21 11:48:09.340 ogpsdWARNING (could not write to '/sys/bus/platform/devices/neo1973-pm-gps.0/pwron': [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/sys/bus/platform/devices/neo1973-pm-gps.0/pwron') 2009.12.21 11:48:09.887 ogpsdWARNING (could not write to '/sys/bus/platform/devices/neo1973-pm-gps.0/pwron': [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/sys/bus/platform/devices/neo1973-pm-gps.0/pwron') 2009.12.21 11:48:10.49 ogpsd.gpsdevice INFO GTA02Device initialized. thanks for the info guys. I will install zhone and report whether I can find out something or not. Right now with fso disabled I can get GPS NMEA data out of it. However no fix, position data or something else interesting except sometimes some unreadable Date and Time (ZDA) information which adjusted my time from year 1970 to 1999. I have to admit that I don't really know how to provide meaningful debug information (how do I start Contacts from the terminal?), so I'd be glad for any hints. On a side note, my sms messages are attributed to the wrong people, ie a message i got from A's phone number shows up to be by B. The issue might also have to do with encoding, as the names in the messages include strange entities -- and those entities are different every time I start the messages app (eg instead of Dr. Someone, it's sometimes x9 Someone or anglesquare Someone or whatever...) And, finally, up to recently, every time I made a call, the screenlock showed Diane D. is calling -- though there's no one with that name in my contacts. Whatever relict is that? I've encountered a couple Freerunners which had this problem. If you have an external antenna you can plug it in and see if it works. If you can't send it back to the shop you bought your phone from and get it repaired you can also follow the instructions on the wiki and disassemble the phone replacing the GPS antenna is relatively easy. The cable of the GPS antenna is probably stuck between the upper side of the PCB and the GPS antenna itself and broke at that place due to the stress. If you can't get a replacement antenna anywhere you can contact me and we can arrange something.
