QtMoko v16

2009-12-21 Thread Radek Polak
Hi,
new images of QtMoko are released! They can be downloaded from sourceforge as
usually [1].

QtMoko is stable distribution based on Debian and Qtopia. For more info see
[2][3] and also [4] when it works (thanks Fabio if you manage to fix it).

Changes from previous version:

* Hopefully SMS receiving is fixed (mwester)
* Multiplexing can be enabled in configuration file
* Glamo SD card clocking workaround
* Updated kernel
* Fixed fso-keyring to latest version (ghislain)
* Using Debian toolchain

This is mainly bug fixing release. I hope SMS receiving is now OK thanks to old
patch from Mike Westerhof.

Modem multiplexing can be now enabled if you edit

/opt/qtmoko/etc/default/Trolltech/Modem.conf

and change

[Multiplexing]
Active=yes

The kernel is latest andy-tracking and has FIFO fix from Thomas White which
could give some more performance.

Fso-keyring should give no more warnings when working with apt-get.

Last thing is updated toolchain. It's a bit modified toolchain from emdebian
project. All libs and compiler version should match debian lenny, so the
linker warning from previous version are gone. And also compiler is newer
version so maybe it is also a bit faster. If you take a look at my
debian_rootfs.txt howto in GIT, there are instructions how to create the
toolchain and it can be downloaded from SF [1].

Sorry if some of your favourite bugs are not fixed in this version, but hey -
it's not last version :-)

Thanks to everybody who helped with this version.

Cheers

Radek

Hello list,

SHR GUI for reading satellites shows no entry at all even after 20

They look quite similar and both use the filename power_on. And
never pwron.

So I think there is a bug in (your?) version of ogpsd. Maybe it is not
updated correctly?

This is normal. Earlier kernel had pwron as node to control power to
GPS and since the change ogpsd just writes to both (and will always
complain about one not being there).
If you install zhone (which should be possible on SHR) you can open the
GPS tab and look at GPS in more detail. The chip will tell you which SVs
it is currently looking for and if it is receiving data or not well
before they appear in the SHR GUI.

thanks for the info guys. I will install zhone and report whether I
can find out something or not. Right now with fso disabled I can get
GPS NMEA data out of it. However no fix, position data or something
else interesting except sometimes some unreadable Date and Time (ZDA)
information which adjusted my time from year 1970 to 1999.

Francisco,

Multiplexing allows you to use GPRS (for data) and GSM (for voice and SMS) at
the same time.

So you can receive or make calls while browsing the internet with GPRS.

Very useful ;-)

Then I suspect that your GPS antenna is broken. I've encountered a
couple Freerunners which had this problem. If you have an external
antenna you can plug it in and see if it works.
If you can't send it back to the shop you bought your phone from and get
it repaired you can also follow the instructions on the wiki and
disassemble the phone replacing the GPS antenna is relatively easy. The
cable of the GPS antenna is probably stuck between the upper side of the
PCB and the GPS antenna itself and broke at that place due to the stress.

If you can't get a replacement antenna anywhere you can contact me and
we can arrange something.

I the meanwhile I tried with zhone and it seems to search for
approximately 13 different SVs without results for a lng while
(around 20 minutes). Power On seems to work since zhone's GPS icon
activates after turning gps on through the shr settings gui. Also no
time sync or any other value is set.

Use settings/position and remove AGPS data - I suspect that it
installs with a AGPS data file that by default doesnt suit your location
- I cant get a lock without cleaning it out after install, then its
fine.

sqlite is installed. Maybe a configuration thing?

RE: QtMoko v16

2009-12-21 Thread Yoric Kotchukov

Excuse my bad English.
Thank you for the work done (or is it fun))).
Well, as no questions asked...
1) Can I somehow enter Russian characters?
2) And you can then publish the addresses of repositories qtmoko, from which
packages to install, update? Officially, so to speak ...

-
Thank you for your attention.
