So i think complete removal of loggers is more safe. Why not use the circular in-memory buffer provided by busybox's syslogd? It's what OpenWRT uses (and many other embedded firmwares): it doesn't eat up your Flash/disk, but still gives you access to the last few messages. I already posted the init file I use for it: # cat /etc/init.d/syslog-busybox #!/bin/sh ### BEGIN INIT INFO # Provides: sysklogd # Required-Start: $remote_fs $time # Required-Stop:$remote_fs $time # Should-Start: $network # Should-Stop: $network # Default-Start:2 3 4 5 # Default-Stop: 0 1 6 # Short-Description:System logger ### END INIT INFO case "$1" in start ) echo -n "Starting Busybox syslog:" if busybox syslogd -C16; then echo -n " syslogd"; else echo -n " !syslogd!"; fi if busybox klogd; then echo -n " klogd"; else echo -n " !kogd!"; fi echo "." ;; esac # You can then read your syslog with "busybox logread" (for which you can make a symlink). Re: qi boot into third partition
Hi, you could configure Qi to skip other partitions or use qi-bootmenu, which is practically Linux kernel with kexec booting another kernels from chosen partition. But in my opinion, qi-bootmenu concept is overkill causing unwanted boot delay. I suggest using u-boot bootloader for multiboot. This is my u-boot environment configuration capable of booting from five partitions, each with different kernel image.[1] [1] http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/User:Martix/U-Boot_environment Greatings, Martix 2010/6/2 Peter Fey : > Hi, > > I have three partitions on my sd-card and each of them contains a > bootable system. qi boot into third partition
Hi, I have three partitions on my sd-card and each of them contains a bootable system. How do I get qi bootloader to boot the system in the third partition? Booting first partition is just pressing and releasing power. Booting second partition is pressing power, releasing power, pressing aux, waiting for vibration, releasing aux. Georgy, I just uploaded a new V24 image [1] with new kernel and modules. The bootlogo is again enabled and SSH works out-of-the-box. After just doing a "make mrproper" and rebuilding the kernel everything was fine again. Hi all, I have a freerunner for sale in Europe. It was buzz fixed in Germany. Perfect working order. Selling it cos it doesn't work on 3 - for various reasons they are my preferred provider in the UK and Ireland where I have recently relocated to after Germany. QtMoko v24 for GTA01
Hi, first of all thanks everybody for supporting QtMoko. I am glad that it works for so many people. I am now uploading images for older Openmoko model - Neo 1973 (GTA01). You can download them from here [1]. Source code can be found on github master_gta01 branch [2]. Here you can also find kernel config [3] and howto for debian rootfs [4]. There is not so much different to Freerunner image except that Neo 1973 has only 64MB NAND flash so it was quite hard to make the image so small. I had to manually delete a few big files from /usr (like zoneinfos) and there are only a few packages there compared to Freerunner image. However the phone can boot now, you can make calls and use most of the applications there. Known problems are following: - GPS will not be working out of the box for sure - I was able to connect GPRS but ping for some reason didnt work. - Long suspend gives me white screen - I couldnt charge GTA02 battery (but i guess this is normal) - QMplayer you'll have to manually edit config to use fb instead of glamo So there is still a lot of work to be done. If you would like to contribute, best way is to register on github and fork mine qtmoko repo or just send me patches by email. I have Neo 1973 phone borrowed from Pavel Machek. Thanks Pavel! Any feedback is welcome. I am wondering how many people still have this old Neo and if they are still using it. Re: QtMoko v24
Hi, Thank you very much for your efforts and this release. This release works fine on my phone, and its very pleasant to see my name in the contributors section :) I`m also trying to keep wiki up to date. Now i`m working on some arora fixes (most important one is form style bug-around to work correctly with HTML forms), hope i`ll be able to provide patches soon. Currently i found some (minor) problems which i think could be fixed more or less simply. 1) I`m recommending to disable unneded and useless getty consoles in /etc/inittab. Of course this could be done manually but IMHO its better to modify rootfs. This will save some memory. 2) By default time sync with GSM network is enabled (ask user). Calypso chip was never able to get time from the network (firmware bug?) and message is always wrong (like "current time is +32, sync?"). If confirmed then it set bogus time (in my case it was 1932). I think its better to disable this functionality at all for GTA01/02 or at least to change default value to 0. 3) I found that after changing color scheme in "Appearance" settings menu qtopia catch segfault and restarting. Probably bug somewhere in qt extended. After restart new color scheme applied, so its not critical, but annoying. Also i think that it does make a sense to update rootfs before creating image, but of course its not critical also. On 05/31/2010 08:48 PM, Radek Polak wrote: > Hi, > new QtMoko images v24 are out!
