Re: uSD corruption
I've had similar problems with that same (Kingston 8GB) uSD card. I initially blamed qtmoko for this and switched to running it from a 2GB SanDisk card rather than NAND. I'm pleased to say it (v35 v37) works really well set up like this. I have doubts that my diagnosis was correct though as I think the Kingston card was failing and I'm intending to try running from NAND again and mounting the SanDisk card for data. The whole business of uSDs on the freerunner is most confusing, for instance a 4GB SanDisk I have does not work at all. Throw into the mix that the card maybe failing, and it's then tricky to be sure what the issue is. -- David Matthews m...@dmatthews.org ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

It seems to be reliable for data but if I use it with a running distro, at this moment QtMoko, I experience, during a day of usage, several freezings. I mean, when it is in suspend mode (deep suspend enabled) if I press the power button the Neo does not recover from the suspend. I have to pull off the battery and then restart the Neo, but as can you imagine, after a couple of times the file system gets corrupted and I have to format the partition. Moreover this behaviour seems to become worse as the time passes. Should I consider to replace the uSD card? are there known issues in using running distro on it? Thanks. For me uSD card never worked as stable rootfs. I always ended up with corrupted filesystem after a couple of days. But for data on FAT it always worked quite good. I guess this is some flaw in Freerunner's hardware or kernel driver. On GTA04 i have rootfs on uSD and no problems at all. I am starting to think that NAND on GTA04 is quite useless - it would be quite cool if it had 2 uSD cards instead (with BTRFS as fs it could rock). If you use only the PNGs (except of only two SVGs for the PIN box) all the glitches should go away (: Also note, in fact, that the .deb is about 7 MB, it should be much more light. Re: WebOS for GTA04?
A starting point can be: https://developer.palm.com/content/resources/development_resources.html For what I've red til now, they (HP) should also release the application framework ENYO under open source license. Til now, I couldn't find any news about its license, probably we still need to wait some time. Imho, I expect HP to keep a quite strong control over it, they will keep their patents and go on with their own developers working on webos. In other words a complete open project wouldn't be worth for them, but I really hope it'll be open enough to let us (you :-) work on it. I'm expecting coding will be under the strict control of HP, inside the community of developers. Actually they are talking about porting it on other devices, which is at least a first good step, meaning they wont put limitation on which kind of devices However, all this are more speculations than facts... Wait some time and see what's coming next... urodelo On Fri, 16 Dec 2011 08:39:33 +0100, Dr. H. Neo Freerunner as a controller
Hi I'm interested in the use of the Neo Freerunner as a controller, using its accelerometers, mainly to test a flight sim on my computer. I found the project openmokontrol, but is it still alive? I found references here [1] and here [2] but the project seems not mantained anymore. Are there similar softwares? Something for QtMoko? The accelerometer reports orientation of the phone only when it is not moving. When you move the phone it will of course be skewed by the acceleration. I have played with it as well, hoping to use it as a mouse. The problem here is that the only one direction that's accelerated constantly, is the one downwards. The showstopper for me was that the stream would choke after some time. I think I used bluetooth most of the time, but I'm not quite sure anymore. I at least tried one other way of connecting, probably USB, to find out if that would relieve the choking behaviour, but it didn't: after a while, the stream would die. I took the Openmoko wike pages Technical:Accelerometer_Fundamentals and Accelerometer_data_retrieval as a starting point, the test application worked almost out of the box (I had to change the input event to another number). Other people who took this code documented their use at [1] I also took the print statements and other code that seemed not useful away, to see if that kept the connection stable. In case you have better luck, I'd be interested in your results!
