QtMoko v54

2013-03-07 Thread Radek Polak
Hi,
i am happy to anounce QtMoko v54 - this time just for Freerunner. I have
finally fixed GSM network registration bug so we have now Freerunner release
with all the nice things that were only for GTA04 previously. The release
tarbal and ubifs images are available here [1], for more info visit our
homepage [2]

Changes since v48:

* ogg content plugin now works (Neil Jerram)
* faster videos
* swapped colors in videos now really fixed
* debian package improvements (Gilles Filippini)
* upgrade to qt 4.8.3
* support for html5 video in browsers
* enable typing in the To field, when sending an email (Neil Jerram)
* avoid QString::arg: Argument missing logs (Neil Jerram)
* position is now showing in media player (Neil Jerram)
* fixed qwslock log warnings (Neil Jerram)
* have libQtScript and libQtDeclarative installed by qbuild (Gilles Filippini)
* media player uses accelerometers for rotation
* fixed wifi ap to not move around during rescan
* qtmoko apt repo keys are installed by default
* DISPLAY is no longer set in qpe.env to not confuse pulseaudio (Neil Jerram)
* phonon is now built and can be used by applications
* phonon has fix for swapped colors
* QSplitter class is compiled for better compat with existing apps
* rotate helper is now part of accelerometer library
* fixed Draft message instead of sender in SMS (Neil Jerram Radek Polak)
* fixed status to be uint64 in mail app db
* fixed invisible text parts in qterminal
* qui utility to show QtMoko message boxes from shell
* gps uses gpsd and gpspipe (Neil Jerram)
* qx - fix setting of DISPLAY variable (Neil Jerram)
* qx - fix Xfbdev invocation (Neil Jerram)
* gps satellites should work again
* updated mokofaen theme (Joif)

I havent tested the release very much, but i hope it is quite ok. I have
noticed that audio stops after few seconds in media player, so you have to use
qmplayer for now. Maybe this can be solved by installing different gstreamer
plugin for mp3 instead of fluendo.

If you want to upgrade (also untested), you'll have to configure gpsd after
upgrade to make gps working. Edit /etc/default/gpsd and set
DEVICES=/dev/ttySAC1

Thanks everyone who helped with this release!

Cheers

Radek

Fantastic, thank you very much!

I had many problems installing ics4openmoko with previous version of
QtMoko on my GTA02. Tonight I will update my phone.

Thank you very much again.

By the way, it isn't available for update through apt yet, isn't it?

would it be asking to much, to cut down quotes to the minimum?
simply replying (and posting a single line at the _bottom_ -- assume the
recipient reads it on the om, how much are they supposed to scroll???) is
bad style.

ususally i don't read anything that consist of nothing but quotes for a
page or more (and i got a monitor with high resolution and small fonts ...)

I encountered similar issues with obsolete sources.list.

What about adding a qtmoko_apt_sources.deb package, distributing a
configuration file inside the source.list.d/ directory? It would offer
simpler (and transparent) migrations.

I mostly though about the qtmoko specific URLs. It probably won't change in
near future, but... who know... it already happen and Sourceforge is also
subject to changes (they are currently moving to the new Allura project).

Dear Radek,

 Hi,
i am happy to anounce QtMoko v54 - this time just for Freerunner.
[...]
 Cheers

 Radek

Thanks a lot for this new release!

I just tried to upgrade via apt and I've got a few of problems:

Failed to fetch
http://qtmoko.sourceforge.net/apps/./libsdl-qtmoko_1.2.14-6.1_armel.deb
404 Not Found

which I easily solved with
# wget
http://qtmoko.sourceforge.net/apps/armel/libsdl-qtmoko_1.2.14-6.1_armel.deb
# dpkg -i libsdl-qtmoko_1.2.14-6.1_armel.deb

Also the problem with the key(OpenPGP key 0x91B27C1E1DC56A1F) was easy
to solve:
# wget --no-check-certificate
https://github.com/radekp/qtmoko/raw/master/dist/qtmoko-pubring.gpg
# apt-key add qtmoko-pubring.gpg rm qtmoko-pubring.gpg

After this everything went smooth. One thing looks strange to me:
qtmoko-neo is still version48-1, even with:
# apt-get remove qtmoko-neo
# apt-get install qtmoko-neo
# dpkg -i | grep qtmoko-neo
ii qtmoko-neo48-1Smartphone environment based
on QT Extended - Neo FreeRunner flavor

Is it correct?

Best regards,
  Giacomo

PS opendune is not working for me :-(

Re: [ANN] Tweakable finger-friendly Xmonad + xvkbd + dzen2 ready-to-use config

2013-03-07 Thread Paul Fertser
Hi David,

dmatthews.org m...@dmatthews.org writes:
Along with Xmonad config, xvkbd tweaks and a bash wrapper for dzen2
I've also added some notes about from-scratch X.org configuration for
gta02, gta04 and about creating a custom Xkb setup.

have you managed to integrate the phoneui stuff?

I haven't tried as I feel no need for that. I'm using my own Emacs
interface to FSO for more than 2 years and if or when it doesn't do
something I need, extending is easy and fun. I do not see any reason why
SHR's UI would be incompatible with my Xmonad configuration though.

That said, I'm using FSO indeed, but not the released version, as I had
to hunt down some bugs before I felt comfortable. You can try using
Cornucopia 0.12 but with gta02 you'll have unnecessary wakeups (on every
+CREG) and messages would fill up the SIM (so you'll have to clean it
sometimes) and Display and CPU resource handling would be
buggy. Compiling FSO natively is possible but is a pain, somewhat
obliviated if you have distcc working.

would you mind providing a dpkg --get-selections and sources.list?

Selections attached (but I'm not actually using anything from fso,
running actual binaries from /usr/local) , sources.list is trivial:

deb http://mirror.bytemark.co.uk/debian unstable main
deb http://mirror.bytemark.co.uk/debian experimental main
