Re: [Android]

2008-12-23 Thread Andreas Wallin
I think there has been some issues with software license,

The multimedia codecs is not in the android software for the freerunner.

I did some Android image from Sean Mcneil review in devel list.

I don't know why, but for me i can't use the media player. The application is
there and can lounch it, just can't play song (I'll try that more).

I was in the process of flashing android for the first time. I understand
only GSM works on android (no wifi or gps) and thats ok with me. Just had
 two questions

 1) Is there a media player inbuilt in the android flash image?
 2) Should one flash the Kolou beta image or Sean's image?

I did not notice significant changes from Sean's image of 5 dec. (yet ?)
 - Software keyboard has been modified with bigger keys.
 - Cannot turn on bluetooth anymore

 Did not try GSM yet.

[Android] freerunner answercall,

2008-11-16 Thread Andreas Wallin
Is it possible to answer call by using bluetooth headset och wired
headset when running android on freerunner?

This can be an easy way to implement answercall by writing a custom
application for android on freerunner, The lack of onscreen keyboard may
be a problem when pair:ing bluetooth devices,

Re: new to openmoko

2008-11-09 Thread Andreas Wallin
How does this setup work with suspend ?

Does it work to have as the every day phone ? Or does it suffer from
the regular flaws that sometimes it does not wake up from suspend on
call and so on ?

contacts, messages, dailer on the screen.* i am not able to connect to
wifi even if i connect no internet* bluetooth not working.* if connect thru
my laptop and open terminal and run opkg update it is giving signature
error.I am lost in openmoko world.kindly help. Here is a complete guide
about how I've made Om2008.9 to be something for daily use: Feel free to send me corrections or
additional hints on it; don't miss to check out the Wiki for more and
better information; thanks for ur info, but i dont have internet on my
 openmoko and even no terminal.

Connect your FR with USB to a computer with access to Internet and SSH
to the FR; that should allow you to follow the procedure; check the Wiki
for how to do this and how to configure USB networking.

And please, assemble your email in some better (readable) way; I will
 not answer a next one like this;

Re: [Qtextended] [X-post] The ugly part

2008-11-01 Thread Andreas Wallin
I can confirm the exact behaviour on my freerunner gta02, after the
upgrade to 4.4.2 from 4.4.1.

Nishit Dave wrote:
Well, I spoke too soon. There was some gsm buzzing even I could hear
on a call, so I switched on the speaker. Result: LOUD feedback. So I
inserted the headphones while the call was on (after apologizing to
the other party). Result: LOUD feedback from the earphones.

I removed the earphones, reverted to the handset, but the other party
was not at all audible. So I disconnected, and dialed again, only to
realize after some attempts that gsm had stopped working. The only
workable remedy was to reboot the phone.

I repeat that I have used the binary update for 4.4.2, which means my
original .state files (as fiddled with countless times) must be
intact, and the 'official' .state files may have a better overall
results. However, I also noticed something else: when I pick up an
incoming call on the handset, first there is an audible squeak like
 feedback for half a second.

I really wonder what is happening here. I might have to unwillingly
downgrade the FR with Qtextended from 'almost a daily phone' to 'not
at all a daily phone' if this persists.

Oh, by the way, my interest is in seeing that the FR becomes a daily
phone for *everyone*, except for those who stubbornly refuse to admit
it was ever meant to be one.

This seems lika a very very good decision,

A core develop/engineering team focus to deliver a rubust platform,

User applications then is up to all others to develop...

Development environment suggestion ?

2008-09-27 Thread Andreas Wallin
Hello community lists !
I just read the mail call for community action

I would make som suggestions for making developing openmoko software
more easy.
Why not create some virtual machines with all compilingtools and needed
software installed to get ready for bugfixing/developing openmoko

This may be virtualbox images.. Nothing fancy, just ubuntu with
toolchain, maybe even a ready eclipse version. Publish this by
torrents, Maybe even with good to go software used during development.
I spent lots of time before i got a working environment to develop/debug
my openmoko in.

greetings !
