Missing libmpfr.so.1 for building qtmoko on Ubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.04 64-bit

Hi all,

I want to build Qtmoko for the Freerunner GTA02 on my laptop using
Ubuntu Precise Pangolin 12.04 64-bit.

I followed the instructions on [1]. I have problems to get
libmpfr.so.1 installed. The program getlibs is not anymore available
on [2] so I tried it from [3]. But I get the message:

If I try to continue without this library, I get the following error

I just had a look into some other languages (it, ru), there is this stange

I would go for Xglamo - it's very small (~1MB) and well tested. I have
tested it on fresh v35 install and i worked just fine.

Wich packages do I have to install for Xglamo?

A apt-cache search glamo gives only the result xserver-xorg-video-glamo -

I have installed this package, but the X server is not starting.

I tried both, but with no success (I saw Raptor install packages,

  So, I tried

  apt-get install xserver-xorg

If you try runningX from command line does it work? Maybe uninstall the
xserver-xorg (or remove /usr/bin/X) and QX should use Xglamo automatically.

A start of X gives the error

I didn't have this file. So I created it with your template and after a reboot

gone.

Navit starts (the background color occurs), but it directly gets frozen. And

By the way this happens only if i start navit in the terminal on the neo
directly. If I want to start it over a ssh session from my laptop I get the

Configuring a system for GPS-only use is an interesting challenge.

 1) The filesystem probably should be read-only so that you can turn
the power off at any time, right?

 2) The only volatile part of the filesystem would then be the gps
 tracks?

Yes of course, you are right, maybe there is no need for a new distro, a
modification of a existing one can work. But when we come to your mentioned
read-only filesystem, then I dont't know if it is possible only by
configuring? And what is with all the drivers for wifi, USB, GSM and so on
which are not needed? Can we do this without compiling a new kernel?

Ok, my first test would be to take an existing distro and remove all packages,
which I don't need. Then we will see...

What would be a good starting distro? I would take SHR, but maybe another
would be better?

Hello,

does someone know a small distribution which is only made for GPS usage? For
outdoor holydays it would be nice to have such a distro. There is no need for
using the GSM, blootooth, wifi, acceleration sensor and so on. It should only
be fast at booting and should have a small energy consumption. For the
application I'm thinking of something like tangogps. It should be able to show
the position on a map and log a track.

Ok, if there is not such a distro, would it possible to build it? My
programming skills are very small for this topic so I don't know where to
start. A little help from you would be nice. :-)

Thanks for reading and for any hint to the right direction. :-)

Greetings, Carsten

No gps connection in navit with SHR-unstable

2009-11-25 Thread Carsten Gerlach
Hello at all,

sorry for this crosspost, but I think this topic is for both list interesting.

Today I flashed the new SHR-Image (lite) from 24. nov. 2009 on my freerunner,
and installed the latest svn version from navit, 2797.

At the start of navit I get this error message:

===
vehicle_gpsd:vehicle_gpsd_try_open:Trying to connect to localhost:default
vehicle_gpsd:vehicle_gpsd_try_open:Warning: gps_fd is 0, most likely you have
used a gps.h incompatible to
libgpsvehicle_gpsd:vehicle_gpsd_try_open:Connected to gpsd fd=0
evwatch=0xaa3e0
navit:main_real:Using '/home/root/.navit/navit.xml'
===

In general the gps is working, tested with tangogps. Only navit doesn't see
the gps.

What can I do to solve this problem? If any further information is needed,
I'll try to give my best. :-)

Thanks, Carsten

[SHR] Multiple packages providing same name marked HOLD or PREFER. Using latest.

2009-11-23 Thread Carsten Gerlach
Hello at all,

What does this message mean?
Multiple packages providing same name marked HOLD or PREFER. Using latest.

What can I do to fix this issue?

In the current case I tryed an update from navit, it cames from svn-2755 to
svn-2758, but this version has bugs. So I did opkg remove navit and then
opkg install install http://download.navit-
project.org/navit/openmoko/svn/navit-svn-2755_armv4t.opk

Now during the installation this message occures and then opkg switches
directly to svn 2758...

What can I do to get the latest working 2755?

Thanks, Carsten

Yes, now it works.

I know, that i have to set the Freerunner to USB host mode. I used the
openmoko-panel to switch to USB host mode.

That hasn't worked for a few months now. To switch to USB host mode:

 # echo /sys/devices/platform/s3c2410-ohci/usb_mode host
 # echo /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0073/neo1973-pm-host.0/hostmode 1

To switch back to USB device mode:

 # echo /sys/class/i2c-adapter/i2c-0/0-0073/neo1973-pm-host.0/hostmode 0
 # echo /sys/devices/platform/s3c2410-ohci/usb_mode device

Yeah, that was the right hint. Now it works. But the Freerunner is _very_
slow. I should take the laptop with me ;-)

[Debian] read GPS logger i-blue 747 on freerunner over USB

2009-03-11 Thread Carsten Gerlach
Hello everybody,

next week i want to go skiing and track the piste for Openstreetmap. But I
don't want to use the Freerunner for that but the i-blue 747 from Transystem.
I want to use the Freerunner only as storage device for the log files.

So, I have installed mtkbabel for reading the logger.
The kernel has the right module for this chipset, cp2101, wich I can load with
modprobe cp2101.

I know, that i have to set the Freerunner to USB host mode. I used the
openmoko-panel to switch to USB host mode.

My problem now is, the Freerunner doesn't record, that I connect the i-blue to
it.

On my Ubuntu desktop PC i get the following messages:

cars...@laptop:~$ dmesg
[ 2665.368067] usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 2
[ 2665.550347] usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

[ 2665.812054] usb 2-1: reset full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address

[ 2665.959323] usb 2-1: cp2101 converter now attached to ttyUSB0

[ 2665.960236] cp2101: Silicon Labs CP2101/CP2102 RS232 serial adaptor driver
v0.07

But on the Freerunner I don't get any new message, wenn I put the i-blue to
the USB slot.

My question now is, what do I have to install or configure, to get a
connection between the Freerunner and the i-blue? I would be glad for any hint
in the right direction.

Thank you.

Greetings, Carsten
