Navit already draws from binary OSM data. Why would you also want

You mentioned navit in your posting, so I assume you're already using
it to draw OSM maps on the FreeRunne

Yes, tiles take a lot more space, but rendering is nicer and quicker.

Edit the file /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/gtk-2.0/gtk/__init__.py
and change the call to init() to _init()

Try the suggested "iwconfig eth0 power off".

replacement battery.
Most people with a Nokia phone can lend you one...
Boot with the replacement battery, put in USB power (or the wall
charger), pull out the (spare) battery and put in your empty battery.
Red light behind AUX should turn on to indicate charging.

You can pre-download them at home, and use them on the road...
tangoGPS has this option built-in, and the Installer can download map
packs for Locations.

you guys can give me a hint...
Karin,
what make and model and hardware version is your AP?
I have a Linksys WRT54G, hardware version 7. The symptoms you describe
are exactly what I see. If you've the same wireless router, that may
be an indication of where the problem lies.

Also, lots of crashes if you do opkg upgrade (at least, I've had lots
of problems with that).

nice 'first order' approach, if it works...
I haven't put any time into re-building the driver from source yet, so
I don't know if it is even possible, or if it would slow down the
driver too much.

Hi,
this morning, I pulled the FR adapter out of the (230 VAC) socket, and
accidentally touched one of the prongs. I experienced a short shock.
Is there a capacitor in there that can do that? It was fully out of
the socket when I touched it!
