send/receive files via bluetooth in NEO

2008-12-02 Thread Erin Yueh
Hi List,

I am working on bluetooth recently and I write few notes about OBEX in
openmoko wiki. Also I am going to write a python UI script like a
bluetooth manager. It would have some functions, like 'Browsing nearby
bluetooth devices', 'Send file', 'Bluetooth preferences', 'Bluetooth
power status'etc.

Just few steps, you can send or receive files via bluetooth in NEO. If
you are interested, you may read wiki page.
http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Manually_using_Bluetooth#OBEX

Currently, I didn't write passkey event script yet and you could use
other devices to pair with NEO. A simple UI script is coming soon

Cheers,
Erin

# scan all nearby bluetooth service, check PS3 hardware address
$ hcitool scan

# browse its service, check it has OBEX file transfer? if yes, then you
can use OBEX between NEO and PS3.
$ sdptool browse PS3_HW_ADDR

Re: [FSO] How to develop with Qt

2008-09-28 Thread Erin Yueh
Hi Nicola,

I've sent some patches to our distro team and OE can use bitbake to
build the latest qt4-x11-free to version 4.4.1. Since people from
community like to try qt4 new features, I will send an email to our
distro and they would help to put these packages to our feed. Then you
can install them from installer, no need to build it by yourself.

Also, not sure what you are interested in qt4? i am trying webkit
features by python-pyqt.

org.openembedded.stable there was 4.3.3 version, so i tried again with
the stable branch. It compiled fine but did not create all the requested

i got a working qt-oe-tree, i was able to compile a my application too.
I bitbaked the last fso unstable image and flashed the phone with it,
setupped a fake feed server on my oe tree, added it to feeds on the

But i'm not very happy of this as it's not simple and i do not like to
 mix different branches.
Please share your experience on this...

(and perhaps there needs to be a bbclass for it?)

There are also issues with QMessageBox's using the X11 version of Qt, do you

Hi Kelvie,

After discussed with few co-workers, we think that we should separate
Qtopia Qt lib and Qt4 Qt lib and let them store at different places.
When we would run qt applications, we can use
LD_LIBRARY_PATH to set qt lib. Currently, I use 'env' before running my AP.

About QMessageBox, I can run it correctly before I re-installing all qt
related packages. But now, it wont show up and crash my AP. Now, I only
install libQtCore, libQtGui, libQtNetwork, libQtWebKit, python-sip and
python-pyqt. I guess I need to install more related Qt4 lib packages.

I am using OE to build 'qt-x11-free', 'python-sip', 'pytho-pyqt'
packages with all latest version. Qt is 4.4.1, sip is 4.7.7 and pyqt is
4.4.3. Since i would like to use Qt WebKit functions, i can launch a web
browser in my NEO now.

Yup, i have to export LD_LIBRARY_PATH='/usr/lib' first. Also, i launch
my python script like this: 'LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib/libQtWebKit.so.4
./browser.py'.

I see that these are in a separate package (qtopia-phone-x11, I believe,
rather than qtopia-core), and do not have an associated bbclass with them

also, i will discuss with Holger to see whether we can change Qt lib to
'/usr/lib', instead of '/opt/Qtopia/lib'.
Is this even a viable thing to attempt? If at all possible, I would like to
get PyQt working (well) on the Freerunner, and I am sure I am not the only
 one.

mickeyterm in FSO gives you a connection to the GSM chip to run AT commands.

Are the connect commands built into the GSM daemon, or in a config file
 somewhere they can be checked/modded?

 BillK

You still can use 'cu', 'socat' or 'minicom' to connect to GSM modem
directly. If you use '2007.02', you can read gsmd log. If you use
'2008.08', use 'logread' to see the log information from GSM modem.

mmh usually, we would suggest to change a new SIM card with your
