The idea behind such chips is to send sound and RDS messages to your
FM car radio. I.e. have your radio display a caller ID or navigation hints.
The n900 from Nokia does just this.

The thing that I think is a complete absurdity is the fact that so much
of the software for the FR is written in an interpreted language
(Python). This alone contributes to the slowness of the device.

If you'd prefer using Qt or GTK, both have dedicated distros.
For instance, hackable:1 is the continuation of the initial OpenMoko software
stack that was based on GTK.
As to why openmoko guys decided one day to sacrifice all the work already done

I tried 'ln with gcc, but I'm interested to compile it with toolchain
so the command is make and is not gcc
and it doesn't successful with make :(

Just want to add this: Do you know that the Nokia Internet Tablet
devices contain a capable 3d accelerator as well? The reason it is not
used is the same as for the FreeRunner.

environment installed on FreeBSD / amd64?
