What's the model of the SIM card? I've had an issue where an old SIM card would only register after a few minutes, and some distros had a bug where they'd get confused if the registration didn't happen early enough. To check the raw data coming out of the device, do cat /dev/ttySAC1 | grep GGA This should give you a line of data every second or so. Once a fix has been established, these lines contain latitude,longitude values in plain ASCII. The gpsd daemon (whether true gpsd or fso-gpsd) should make this d
