Re: Whats up with the freerunner mass production?

2008-05-21 Thread Dirk Deimeke

Hi,

And #2. They love hearing your continuous interest in the constant
 requests for status updates.

Are we there yet? No. Are we there yet? No. Are we there yet?
 No.

if you make an announcement for a particular date, you have to live with
people asking, when the date passed by.

If you say production starts at 19th, don't wonder about people asking on
21th ...

Re: Whats up with the freerunner mass production?

2008-05-21 Thread Dirk Deimeke
Hi,

I think I saw some proballys and some shoulds but I don't remember
 any announcements.

maybe, but a concrete date was given.

 Was there an official announcment?

Everything, a member of the company writes, is official ...

Sorry, but we are all waiting for several months now. Several
potential production dates passed by.

It would be very helpful, if we get to know what hinders production.

Sometimes it looks like stonewalling. I know, that this is not intended
by anyone.

2008-05-21 Thread Dirk Deimeke
Hi Michele,

I agree with what you wrote.

But in the end it is about earning money. It is not good to lose
potential customers with announcements of probabilities.

So again, what hinders production?

Openmoko but to learn to be open. It will take time, but is doing a
 lot.

This is main point I think.

All the best

Freerunner on a Mac ...

2008-05-16 Thread Dirk Deimeke

Hi!

One point on my list is to ask you, if it is possible, to configure
(install software) on Freerunner, when you have a Mac?

Thanks for any hint

Re: Freerunner on a Mac ...

2008-05-16 Thread Dirk Deimeke

Hi,

AFAIK, the Freerunner itself can install software when connected to a
Mac. You'll need to setup networking, but I guess that will be covered
 in the FAQ.

ok, great.

What I am wondering about (and maybe you as wel...) is if it will be
possible to re-flash the Freerunner using a Mac. Since I also own a
Mac, that would be nice to know...

Same for me. My machine is runs with Linux, so no problem on this side. The
machine of my wife works with Tiger.

Since I ordered a phone for her as well, she should be able to do basic
administration with her Mac.

Cheers

Well, you can always login via SSH as a root...

if this is configured ...

You can not login as root on any of my machines, you can not even login
with a bare password.

But everyone can use the level of security he wants.

Re: Stylus Recommendation

Hi,

Someone (read: not me. I AM a EE :) ) could make a stylus with a usb
connector sticking out along the side. Then, the stylus could plug
into the usb port and be held tight against the side of the phone.

really a cool idea.

Respect!

Hi,

But for me, that link is 404 Not Found. The wiki seems to be down.
Brenda mentioned in another thread that the wiki was being upgraded.
I'm guessing that is in process and is the reason I can't access it.

I was do to make a search and to find the link ... so upgrading should be
finished, shouldn't it?

Re: New List?

2008-04-28 Thread Dirk Deimeke
Hi,

What a great idea. Maybe I'm to uncommunicative but I'm tired of
marking group order threads and what colour do i like questions as
read. At least I found a missing feature in claws: mark folded threats
 read ;-)

try ignore on threads ;-)

I think the wiki would be the best place to arrange group orders and
form groups (which might exists after anyone got it's neo-- Steve's
intention to spent some goodies?). The real buying process is neither
done on the mailing list nor the wiki so there is no disadvantage.

Same for me.

Everyone knows the wiki to be the place to go to for group orders.

Re: Our new Main page of wiki

2008-04-18 Thread Dirk Deimeke

Hi,

 Just a thought...
Perhaps it would make sense for the wiki pages to fit the horizontal
resolution of the Freerunner. I would image that it may be an often
 visited
site by the phones when people are getting started.

I agree to that.

Plus thinking about the page beeing viewed mostly from users with Linux on
their machines (web server stats anyone?). So it should be reviewed with
linux or at least with an alternative browser.

Hi,

The problem here is that trisoft is selling it for 399€

There was a correction to 350 EUR. If you live outside EU, you don't have
to pay the taxes (19%), so it comes to ca. 295 EUR, but you have to pay the
taxes in your country.
