Will the modem firmware be usable from a legal perspective?

Larger capacity battery

2013-12-20 Thread Dominic Walden
Hello,

I was thinking about purchasing another battery from Golden Delicious
(as a spare/backup) but before I do does anyone know of any higher
capacity batteries that are compatible with a Freerunner?

The only ones mentioned on the wiki are 1100mAh or less.

Someone[1] appears to have got it working with a 6Ah portable DVD
player battery by using the battery circuit board from the Openmoko
battery. I'm not sure if I want anything as drastic as that, but I
would not be averse to doing the same with a battery the same size as
the Openmoko one.

Thanks,

Dominic

Re: QtMoko v58 with 2.6.39 kernel and improved power management

 Hi,
the update interval is now as often as uevents are comming from linux kernel.
You can enable logging-power management and check in log how often it is - i
think it could be those 20s.

Between two log entries of the form: battery change event charge%= n%
is about 1 minute.

Nevertheless, I think that will be fine if it updates regardless when
coming out of suspend (so you can take it out of suspend, check the
battery level, and put it back in suspend).

Thanks,

Re: QtMoko v58 with 2.6.39 kernel and improved power management

2013-12-18 Thread Dominic Walden
Thanks Radek,

I've been using the Freerunner as my primary (in fact only) mobile
phone for about 2 years now, thanks in no small part to QtMoko.

One question. Is it just me or is the battery capacity monitor not
updated frequently enough, and not at all during suspend? For example,
taking the phone out of suspend you have to wait 20-30 seconds before
it shows you you've lost a bar of power.

Is there a way of increasing the frequency, and making it work in the
background while the phone is in suspend?

Thanks again, and keep up the good work.

Re: Fundraising for GTA04A5 has started!

2013-11-22 Thread Dominic Walden
What are the likely power consumption improvements in the A5? Or is
that mainly a software issue?

What will the relationship be between this and the Neo900? Will the
Neo900 motherboard include some of the upgraded A5 components?

Good luck, I will be watching with interest (and might put some money
down).

 Subject: Re: [Gta04-owner] QtMoko v52

In my NAND is a very old Version.
I upgraded only QTmoko on the uSD-Card because of this Warning:

 http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/qtmoko/index.php?title=Update

 Update to v35
Warning: If you installed QtMoko on NAND, DO NOT TRY TO UPDATE!
 Otherwise your phone won't boot.

I think that's only if you apt-get upgrade/dist-upgrade. I've been
using v48 which I flashed on to my NAND on my '02 for ages now with
no problems.
