Re: Android status as a daily phone

2010-04-24 Thread Denis Galvão - Gmail
Thanks urodelo.

What about the listen volume?

And about hibernation? Is the energy saver working as it should? I mean the
phone can sleep and wake without problems?

Denis.

I've it on my fr since some months. The version I use is 1.5. I can use it
as daily phone. it's stable. I've just installed few applications, and
except some occasional freeze, I'm not experimenting any special problem.
However, I find there aren't many interesting applications available (for
my taste), not like in shr. Moreover, its difficult to do every little
change in the system. But if you just want to use it as mobile phone, i
think it's ok. I didn't test gps and bluetooth yet, I assume they work.
Wifi works very well, it automatically reconnects if i go out of range for
some time. I've it on nand; booting it can sometimes be a challenge, if
your finger isn't quick enough, especially if you have just opened your
 eyes after a deep sleep.

[Shr-User] Changing timeout settings thru dbus

2009-12-01 Thread Gmail
Hello list!

For the latest SHR unstable image there is a minor bug: time out
settings in the power menu does not kept after suspend.
It is a very big pain for me to have only 10 sec idle timeout So, is
there any possibility to manually increase (and forever keep it)
timeouts with mdbus?

[QtMoko] minor questions

2009-10-23 Thread Gmail
Hello list!

First, I'd like to say BIG THANKS for the great work that you are doing!
I'm really very impressed with the usability, stability and other
features of the QtMoko distribution.

For now I have some minor questions about Qtopia software.
First is - how can I remove application from Favorites tab? I did not
find any possibility to do this for now.

Second is - google contacts sync application works only one way, it
takes contacts information from google side and import to the contact
database. Is there any possibility to do vise versa, to export contacts
from FR to the google contacts?

Third is - what is the location of my contacts database on the FR?

Forth is - how can I synchronize PIM information with Evolution?

Fifth is - I did apt-get update and had about 14 not upgraded packages.
Is it safe for now to do and upgrade for the system software from lenny
repository?

Six is - as I understood, all personal information is located under
Documents directory of the user. Can I move this directory to the SD
card and make simlink to the home location?

Thats all for now :)

Once again - THANK YOU VERY MUCH

PS. I found some minor bug: the home directory of the root user in the
qtopia environment is /home/root, but in debian - it is /root. Updating
the HOMEPATH in the /etc/passwd fix this issue.

[QtMoko] Running applications thrue ssh

2009-10-22 Thread Gmail
Hello list!

I have a problem running any application thru ssh.

I run this set of commands:

$ ssh -X r...@moko
neo:~# source /opt/qtmoko/qpe.env
neo:/root# export DISPLAY=localhost:10

But when I run any application in /opt/qtmoko/bin, I'm getting an output
to the FR screen. Is there any any possibility to get output to the
desktop screen?

Re: Tips when GSM doesn't work

2009-10-12 Thread Gmail
Hi!

I'm having this issue periodicaly. My suggession for this problem is to
reinstall some packages with a magic command:

opkg install -force-reinstall libgsm0710mux0 libfsotransport0 \
 libfsoframework0 libfsobasics0 fso-abyss fsousaged \
libgsm0710mux-config frameworkd frameworkd-config-shr \
libframeworkd-phonegui-efl0 \
shr-contacts shr-messages shr-dialer ophonekitd

And after reboot GSM works fine for several days or weeks :)

I'm using my FR (with SHR - last) as main phone. I experienced sometimes
that when I start SHR, GSM functions doesn't start
I don't know how can I check any log or how can I start manually GSM
  services, I type /etc/init.d/frameworkd restart, but I don't know if it's
supossed to solve this issue. Can you give me some advices to take in count
  when I have this problem?
I've had this when the sim card isn't fully pushed into the slot
(contacts between phone and card aren't quite aligned) but you can
still lock it (or it feels like you lock it). I think mickeyterm
returns CME ERROR 3 on many SIM requests when this happens but it
might just do that anytime the GSM module is confused.

so I power down by removing the battery (I know, the ugly way) and wait a
few seconds to put it back again. When I power on the FR again, when SHR
starts, I don't have GSM services
Happens when you do ugly things like that ;) You can also get further
trouble because the FR is designed such that a correctly aligned SIM
card pushes down the SD card.

the resume is fast and works.

i don't think they are really suspending the neo. i think it's just
the switching off of the touchscreen driver and the lcd. so it drains
a LOT of battery. My FR just lasted for 8 hours (as opposed to 24-28
on QtE-I).

Also, my calls were repeatedly dropped. So if i called somebody, i
could talk to them for 1 min or so, and the call would get cut
automatically. This happened to me some 3 times before i booted into
QtE-I to make the call. Anyone else experienced the same? How should i
help debug this?
