I've been using SHR-testing 2011.1 for a while now and experienced the
following problems:
- - white screen after reception of a text message.
- - not always new message icon on lock screen.
- - unable to add number to contacts (issue#1310)
- - sometimes gsm network lost according to the icon in the top bar
- - shutdown from quick settings menu does not work (related to issue
#1170 or issue #1205?)
- - complete freeze (I have to take of the battery to reboot)
- -once tangogps did not update the map anymore

Would you like me to create issues in trac for all mentioned problems ?
I've no additional programs installed.

In general I can use the freerunner as a daily phone.

Kind regards,
Jan.

Hello Thomas,

As pointed out by Timo, you might fix some phones at Fosdem.
I'm planning to come to Fosdem on Sunday. Would it be possible to fix

If possible this would be really cool. If so, do you have the required

Re: Sandisk 16GB SDHC not mountable

2010-10-03 Thread Jan Vlug
I have problems with my uSD as well since 2.6.32
See this ticket: http://docs.openmoko.org/trac/ticket/2364
I had no time to test the suggestion in this ticket yet.

Best regards,
Jan.

On 10/02/2010 08:04 PM, Christian Rüb wrote:
 Hi,

 I partitioned my 16GB SDHC (class 2) card, so I had a 512MB ext3 primary
partition as /dev/mmcblk0p1, but Qi would not boot from it.
So I booted my NAND system (older SHR-U, 1.6.29 kernel) which shows me
correct partition with fdisk -l but would not mount it.

I recreated the filesystem with mkfs.ext3 on freerunner but it still would
not mount it. fsck could not even check the fs:
 e2fsck -f -C0 /dev/mmcblk0p1
 e2fsck 1.41.9 (22-Aug-2009)
e2fsck: Superblock invalid, trying backup blocks...
e2fsck: Bad magic number in super-block while trying to open /dev/mmcblk0p1

The superblock could not be read or does not describe a correct ext2
filesystem. If the device is valid and it really contains an ext2
filesystem (and not swap or ufs or something else), then the superblock
is corrupt, and you might try running e2fsck with an alternate superblock:
 e2fsck -b 8193 device

Trying the fsck suggestion to use an alternate superblock did not help either.

I then created a partition and filesystem over the whole disk, but same
result. No chance to even check the filesystem.

I also tried to switch back from Qi with glamo 242 to the old one - still no
 success.

In my 2 card readers the card does work though.

Does anyone of you have any ideas?

 Thanks,
  Christian

Is it normal that there are multiple versions of a package in the
repository?

I've some additional questions:
- - Why is apm still in the repo if it is not recommended to use it?
- - I uninstalled task-base-apm, which cannot be reinstalled anymore.
Does this break something?

Kind regards,

I'm sure lots of people could help, but they need a clue

Exactly! About development I propose to expose peoples, projects
and
 what is missing, an example:

critical "new openmoko community" core development:

*) FSO team is developing the middleware, they need c/vala
experts, funding :)
*) Mirko is working on Paroli, help is needed to create a a good
wifi

*) Angus is working on om2009, openembedded experts are welcome

*) zzz and www is testing qlwm for arm and writing qt
applications to
create a new and complete qt/x11 gui phone stack over fso, every

 developer is welcome
*) xxx is working to support wpa2/enterprise in connman
 *) "" shr
 *) "" debian
 *) "" hackable:1
 *) "" neovento
 *) "" gentoo
 *) "" qtmoko/qtimproved

 We need discussion boards too:

*) how to use better the aux and power buttons
*) killing freezed x11 fullscreen applications
 *) the wanted systray support
 *) windows manager status
 *) x11 server over qtimproved
*) improving the user interaction with accelerometers
*) long term architecture for om2010
 ...

The same for other tasks, there are few human resources, we need
 organization and coordination.

I fully agree, this kind of information is very difficult to find. I
think providing this information might increase confidence that the
community is alive. Personally, I'm curious who are the people that
are doing development, or whatever for the Openmoko project. I'm
wondering whether people are employed by Openmoko, sponsored or
hacking away in their free time. Updating this page is probably a good
start: http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/Who_is_Who

I encourage the developers/maintainers/contributors of the different
distributions to elaborate a little bit about the latest developments
in the community updates. It's quite difficult to get an idea of the
maturity/liveliness of the different distributions.

Thanks to all who is contributing to the Openmoko community!

I had similar problems after that I had Android Beta 6 installed. I do
not exactly know how I solved the problem. But one of the things was

Paul Fertser gave me some hints on fixing this.

One of the problems I had was that I could only boot from NOR, not from

Another thing you might try is booting with the sd card removed.

Hi Yann,

Do I understand correctly that you were not able to flash QI into NAND?
Maybe a Koolu bootloader is causing the strange behavior...
BTW do you know whether the NAND is partitioned as well?

Maybe an experienced bootloader guy can test installing Koolu Android
and reverting back to SHR or om2009 to investigate the issue?
It took me quite some experimentation, trial and error to get my phone
back to normal.

| I reported it to http://trac.shr-project.org/trac/ticket/418 I have
not had time to report it anywhere else, one other person seems to have
this problem with Android on top of SHR-Testing

I'm using Android, and cannot get wifi working. The kernel is:
2.6.29-rc3-mokodev

I posted a message about this on the Android forum:

Currently, I playing around with Android beta 6 (from Koolu). Wireless
does not work there either.
Sometimes I can the FreeRunner is able to scan for networks, sometimes
not.
I was never able to get a connection with an access point.

SHR-Testing, I can get a scan to work on eth0 every now and then and
the rest of the time I get a "device does not support scanning error".
No matter if I can scan or not eth0 will not connect to any AP. I have
set up the /etc/network/interfaces so that eth0 uses wpa_supplicant,
which I have the file setup with the APs and everything, and when I try
and ifup eth0 it goes though the configurations but stops at a "No
lease failing" error. I have been at this for a while trying to get it
to work and all my attempts have failed. If anyone has any kind of
suggestion, or if they have had this problem with this version of
SHR-Testing please reply, I getting desperate and will try anything to
get it to work.

Did you try at the FreeRunner:
ifdown usb0
ifup usb0

Then on your computer connected to the FreeRunner (as root):
ifconfig usb0 192.168.0.200 netmask 255.255.255.0
ssh 192.168.0.202

This works for me

[SHR] FreeRunner suspends even when told not to do so

2009-02-01 Thread Jan Vlug

Even when I choose wrench (Settings) | Display | Power | Suspend After
Blank | off
The FreeRunner is suspending after the screen blanks when not connected
to USB.
How can I configure the FreeRunner to stay on?
Automatically suspending makes making tracks with tangoGPS impossible...
I found this bug, but is does not tell how to do the configuration to
avoid suspending:

For me it seems that I cannot change anything in "Power management".
There is no suspend in Timeouts either.
And indeed I'm using SHR unstable :-)

 # Here is setting back to the SHR illume default theme
 enlightenment_remote -theme-set theme

 # Now restart E
 enlightenment_remote -restart

 Hope that helps,

Freerunner corrupts dhcp forwarding of Linksys WRE54G wireless range extender

2009-01-16 Thread Jan Vlug
I am using a Linksys WRE54G wireless range extender to increase the
coverage of my wireless LAN.
When my Neo FreeRunner gets an IP address from the DHCP server (behind
the WRE54G), subsequent requests for an IP address from other computers
fail.
Resetting the WRE54G by unplugging it fixes this problem.
I am surprised by this behavior because in theory, the WRE54G should
only forward network packets...

[SHR] How to reset to SHR Illume theme

2009-01-15 Thread Jan Vlug

I set the Illume theme to
default (by changing the settings via the application started by the
wrench icon).
However, this theme is not working fine, and I do not have access to
the settings wrench icon any more.
How can I reset to the SHR Illume theme.
