MiniOne

2008-03-06 Thread Mario Wewer
Hello community,

does anyone of you already have a "Meizu MiniOne" Phone?
The phone looks very interesting for me (just made a small impression of it -
like the iPhone)...
It is really cheap (when the given prices are the right ones) Only GPS is
missing... And maybe UMTS...
Prices: ca. $195/~149€ (4GB ohne Kamera), $310/~237€ (4GB mit
Kamera),$285/~217€ (8GB ohne Kamera) und $400/~305€ (8GB mit Kamera)

But it is running WindowsMobile... :-( So - do you think it could be possible
to run OpenMoko on this phone?!

* ARM11 533MHZ Prozessor
* 128MB DDR SDRAM Cache
* EDGE, GSM und WCDMA
* Windows Mobile 6.0 Betriebssystem
* Video Decoder CODEC
* 3,32″ TFT, VGA (720 x 480), 16 Millionen Farben Touchscreen
* 3 Megapixel Kamera sowie 0,3 Megapixel VGA Kamera für Konferenzen
(Autofocus, kein Blitz)
* Bluetooth (mit GPS Zugang) , Line Out mit DMB Support, Wi-Fi mit Wireless
Karte
* 1600mAH Akku
* Möglichkeit von 720 x 480 AVI, MPEG4, WMV Videos mit 30ftps

Greetings,
Mario

Re: New input method demo!

2007-10-26 Thread Mario Wewer
Hi,

I watched the demo... Looks nice!

Maybe I have an interesting idea for you we could talk about...

I know that this is only a demo, but for the better productivity (less training
needed) it would be nice if you would build up a "standard keyboard layout"

I mean - first button means
"Space" - then "left" (better a circle left - like iPods) jumps a step left (as
long as I "draw" the circle) to "ALT","STRG" ,...)
If I raise the finger and then scratch up it goes to the upper next line
"yxcvbnm,.-" where the 'b' or 'n' is highlightet" That sounds easy I hope?!
What do you think?!
Maybe then the capital keys could be used by one of the three starting
buttons...

Possibilitys of selecting:
- pressing : select
- press and move up : go up one selection line
- press and move down : go gown one selection line
- press and move left : go left one character
-> press and move left in a circle left go left for as many characters as the
circle "moves"
- ...

The keys in the currently selected row could be shown in a list right above the
button...
(I use your ascii from the readme)

* *
 y x c v* bbb *n m , . - <<< scrolls through the screen with the currently
selectet in the middle
*__*

SHFT* SEL *CTRL
*__*

Was it understandable what I meant??

What do you think of this way of typing?!

Best regards,
Mario

Or you can read the Readme, there's an ascii drawing and the two
paragraph helps you understand how it's used.

Zimbra and OpenMoko

2007-10-19 Thread Mario Wewer
Hello,

does anyone of you also use the open source version of the zimbra (web-)
mail-server?

Okay - this is a little offtopic. :-)

I am currently thinking of how to sync with openmoko or if I can only use the
web-mail client But then the contacts needed to be synced... (I would only
be able to export them and import them again to the neo (and the other way)

Maybe anyone of you already solved that problem?

Greetings

Re: Release schedule GTA-2

2007-08-29 Thread Mario Wewer
So - does anyone know anything about shipping GTA02 phase-1 devices?
Will they be marked as "developer-equipment" and maybe also sold with a
"special price" like the GTA01 devices?

I think this sums it up pretty well.
We`re no where close to a 'mass-market release' at the current stage.
I have some pictures of GTA02a1 and GTA02a2 (still in progress) here
for anyone interested:

2007-08-27 Thread Mario Wewer
Does this
> http://lists.openmoko.org/pipermail/community/2007-August/009491.html
mean, that the first neos of GTA02-release are possibly again a
developers-release? And will be shipped/declared as a developers-version? Then
we won't have to pay an import fee - right?

I missed that somehow.

Which answers it - assuming that Phase 1 is shipping to developers.

Re: VMWare-Image (again)

2007-08-10 Thread Mario Wewer
While waiting for the image, I tried this QEmu in the WIKI-Section - I am not
sure why, but everything within the neo-Emu seems to be very slow! I have to
wait a couple of seconds (~10 with 99% CPU) until anything after a pen-touch
happens... :-(
Is this the normal behavior?? I tested it on two different PCs (Both Windows
XP, ~2,4GHz P4/AMD)

There is QEmu images at http://wiki.openmoko.org/wiki/OpenMoko_under_QEMU .
QEMU is a generic and open source machine emulator and virtualizer:
http://www.qemu.org/

The real advantage of QEmu over VMWare is QEmu can be updated to support
Neo1973 hardware (another Open Source feature :-). It is a work-in-progress and
when it's more mature it is going to be submitted for merging to the main QEMU
development tree...

Gaming with the Neo

2007-08-07 Thread Mario Wewer
Anyone of you ever saw something like this?

http://www.amazon.de/Handy-GamePad-Bluetooth-Smartphones-Pocket/dp/B000H8TQSM/ref=sr_1_57/028-7732093-9147747?ie=UTF8&s=ce-de&qid=1186487069&sr=1-57

I just found this solution on the german Amazon-Page... Seems like a VERY CHEAP
alternative (~25€) to use the Neo as a gaming-platform... (connected to the
phone via bluetooth)

I see. It would be nice to find a workaround for this, but I don't
think I know enough do that.

Interesting.
Do you have a reference to that thread in mailinglist archives?

Well, on openSUSE 10.2 I get

"Can't install openembedded-essential_1.1-1: no package provides python
>= 2.3"

When trying to install openembedded-essential via smart packagemanger
pointing to http://www.openembedded.org/dl/

I have python 2.5 installed.

Any ideas?

Similar prices for shipping to UK. I was going to get the Advance now and the
GTA02 in October, but with these shipping prices and maybe import duties on
top I'll have to rethink. Will the promised shipping from within the EU
happen any time soon?

Pictures

Are there any pictures of the phone from the back side and from the top?!
I can only find pictures from the front and the down-side...

But my question is - I think - needless... There is no stylus integrated in the
phone - is it?
Well - okay, I like the stylus which will be delivered with the phone - but for
traveling a smaller one which is integraded in the phone (and so never
forgotten!) would be perfekt Hmm
