Chinese input for OpenMoko

2007-08-11 Thread Shu Hung (Koala)
Hello,

OpenMoko is developed and produced in Taiwan. And I live in HK.
Both places uses Chinese as the common language.

I'm just curious if there is any plan for Neo1973 to support Chinese input?
If so, in what way? Hand-writing input? Or keyboard input method?

Neo1973: Mobile Phone or Mobile Computer?

Why don't we just use the Flash for Linux 9 on OpenMoko?
We may also use Minimo http://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo on
 OpenMoko as browser, too.

AFAIK minimo is for Windows Mobile, isn't it?

Cheers
Miquel

Minimo is a Gecko application, like Firefox and Thunderbird. It should be
easy to have it compiled and run on Linux platform. Actually, they have plan
to put Minimo on Linuxhttp://www.mozilla.org/projects/minimo/FAQ.html#q1.10.
It seems to me they might just need a Linux smart-phone partner for
development and test. If OpenMoko is using Minimo, we can also take
advantage from the Mozilla community.

WiFi support for maybe next version of OpenMoko phone

2007-01-15 Thread Shu Hung (Koala)

Sean,

I don't know if this is helpful. It seems that support for zd1211 chipset on
linux is quite good. You may find the open source driver here:
http://zd1211.ath.cx/. If I am not mistaken, their driver have been included
kernel since 2.6.18. Also, the driver site have a list of WiFi adapter that
uses zd1211 chipset and works with the driver. May be you can get some help
from the driver site / vendors.

I have put some ideas on the Wiki site too:
http://www.linuxtogo.org/gowiki/OpenMoko/Ideas/WifiAdhocCommunication?highlight=%28OpenMoko%2FIdeas%29http://www.linuxtogo.org/gowiki/OpenMoko/Ideas/WifiAdhocCommunication?highlight=%2528OpenMoko%252FIdeas%2529

These may just be silly idea.
Thanks for all your work.

P.S. looking forward for the product ^^

Re: 10 Ideas from a Non-Developer

I think you may add your Ideas to this page:
http://www.linuxtogo.org/gowiki/OpenMoko/Ideas
This would be a better way to collaborate ideas.

Yet another non-developer ^^

Ideas:
1. (sort of like boost mobile but,) Locate your buddies using GPS on
a map system. Possibly non-neo phones too...

2. We need an all around instant messaging client that uses data (NOT
SMS)

3. Make the phone look awesome when it rings with awesome animation
or flashing multicolored lights

4. Music and Video Playback with Syncing over Bluetooth

5. WiFi, PLEASE

6. Some good built in ringtones

7. A ringtone store that taps into other carriers

8. Speaker Phone and Multi Line Conferencing

9. Games that arent bad

10. Customizable UI, Backgrounds, Screen Savers, Colors, etc.
basically EVERYTHING

I hope we can make it happen!

What I would love to see, however, is a website where you can pre-order,

I agree that a pre-order form or anything similar is good.
At least I'd want to be notify when I can buy it online.
