Re: [FSO/Illume] Program icons not showing up
Hi, I tried out FS0-ms5.1 and switched to the experimental feeds - and the icons also disappeared after upgrading to the newer e-* packages (e-wm - 0.16.999.050+svnr39300-r4 ) The following message in /tmp/x.log had already been mentioned on the list and still occurs: EDJE ERROR: file /usr/share/enlightenment/data/themes/illume.edj, group e/modules/kbd/base/default has a non-fixed part. add fixed: 1 1; ??? Problem part is: e.text.label Will recalc min size not allowing broken parts to affect the result. When I deleted ~/.e in a last attempt to get to a sane state, a hint to a missing menu brought me to the solution: /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu was missing, when copied over from a stock FSO-ms5.1 install, all icons reappear! You get no icon, although the icon file exists. Then, remove openmoocow.desktop and recreate it. Use some other .desktop file as a template, and enter the correct filename, name and icon name. Then you get an icon. a problem with "categories" will certainly make an icon disappear, but that is not the only way. Enter the options in a different order or omit something else, and it may still fail. I haven't researched _exactly_ what works, so far I have concentrated on making the icons show up when they doesn't. Did you make any progress? I have the same problem. Also tried tweaking the .desktop files but no luck so far. I do get these errors in /tmp/x.log EDJE ERROR: file /usr/share/enlightenment/data/themes/illume.edj, group e/modules/kbd/base/default has a non-fixed part. add fixed: 1 1; ??? The list time i tried SHR, the icons didn't show up. I found out that this particular e configuration/version/wahtever was very picky, so i had to handcraft all .desktop files i needed. i made them with touch and echo commands and it finally worked. i cant give you any detailed infos, because it was quite some time ago. all i can tell you is that Petr Vanek's hint is a good one and you should play around a little in that direction. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

I edited all the .desktop-files in /usr/share/applications to read 'Applications' instead of 'Application' in the 'Categories' entry but to no avail. Once again I stopped the X-server, removed the .e/ .local/ Desktop/ directories and restarted the X-server, but still same result i.e. no icons. Searching for all .desktop-files reveals some in .e/e/appshadow-directory. Some of them have multiple 'Categories'-entries ! Here's the one representing the Calculator: r...@om-gta02:~# cat ./.e/e/appshadow/.desktop [Desktop Entry] Name=Calculator Name[fr]=Calculatrice Name[it]=Calcolatrice Name[ru]=Калькулятор Name[sv]=Miniräknare Comment=Perform simple calculations Encoding=UTF-8 Version=1.0 Type=Application Exec=openmoko-calculator Icon=openmoko-calculator Terminal=false Categories=GTK;Applications;Office SingleInstance=true StartupNotify=true Categories=Office; I guess that these files are generated from somewhere so editing them isn't going to help... [FSO/Illume] Program icons not showing up
Hi I'm running a home-built installation of fso-testing-image on my Freerunner (GTA02v5). I update ($ make update) my installation atleast twice a week.
