after some problems [1] after the update saturday night i wildly guessed
to blame the updated packages, downgraded the few packages in question and
removed experimental from my sources.list

1: while installing a package manually via apt-get the fr froze -- since
ssh (both dropbear and openssh, openssh seems more stable) is usually
flaky and prone to die while doing apt-get/dpkg operations in particular,
it took a while to detect the deep freeze. i had to remove the battery.
after reboot /var/lib/dpkg/available was gone and trying to acces the
directory froze th fr again.
next boot the fr froze after switching to X, no console but no X yet, dim
background. over.

booting to my old debian on sd worked, so i downloaded manually all 5 or 6
packages, put them via scp into fr's flash and rebooted from flash ...
this time X came up, i could ssh into and dpkg -i the packages.
no crashes so far.

I'm running fso-pkg (unstable) alongside plain Debian testing.

the old versions of packages can be fetched manually from
http://pkg-fso.alioth.debian.org/debian/pool/. Some people have asked or
a unstable/stable repository switch, but there is not enough stable
software to warrant that :-)

(And not enough manpower...)

You can of course install Debian stable on your FreeRunner, but it won’t
contain any OpenMoko-specific software.

And I wouldn’t consider unstabe exactly dangerous – I’m using it since
over 6 years on my work machine.

Joachim
