Have you tried it with qtopia too?
I am using a Nokia Headset (HS-47) which has a different pin layout, but
the wires
can be switched very easily (in the little box containing butten +

No, it's stereo.

I noticed this also with the original openmoko headset. So to me
There are quite a few emails about this about the time the FR was first
released. It has a rare, specific 4 contact plug. There are only a few
out there that work properly. If you have to resort to pulling it
partly to work or have mono sound - you are likely to have the wrong
one.
Note that th
I bought an adapter at the local electronics store ( "Saturn" in
Germany). It fits pretty well into the FR socket. But I only have sound
on one side of the headset, even if the pluf is fully connected. I'm not
sure if this is a plug-related problem or a misconfiguration of the
moko-audio-subsys

As far as I know this adaptor is mono-only,
There's a notice on the wiki about a working adaptor I also own - didn't
notice significant quality decrease with it and it works well. Just to
possibly save you from soldering (although I know its fun). :)

I can't recommend this connector. It works, but not very well. I have to
pull out
the connector aprox. 1 mm to get stereo output. And this position is not
very
stable.

Hi,
I was about to solder myself an adaptor to use my headphones with the
FreeRunner as an ogg/flac player. I have found some jacks, which seem to good
for this task (german website):
