For a starter i discourage you from using nabble - it is evil ;) - it
breaks one discussion into separate threads. It's a pain in the @ss for
those who use normal mail software. Especially when it is capable of
threading.

That's a though question, especially due to the differences between a
car and a phone. :)
When it comes to pure Community building, IMHO the leaders seem to be
Ubuntu; so you should probably talk to Jono Bacon or read his book. ;)
