If there's a patent on that, it's much older than Apple's -- my
Samsung PalmOS phone from around 2002 or so has a touchscreen
interface.

iphone has quite a few interesting bells and whistles on their
interface:  they claim it can detect multiple-fingers, it can
distinguish accidental brushing from deliberate pushing, etc.  It must
be some combination of those extra features that's patented.
