Actually, that's not the case.

I took apart a Neo1973 (GTA01) on the weekend, and the screen is very
easy to remove (the only tool required is the Torx screwdriver for the
case, the guitar pick so you don't cut your fingers getting the front
off, and your fingernails to remove some conductive tape).

In fact it would be *very* easy to replace a broken Neo1973 screen with
a good screen from another device which has a working screen but a
broken circuit board.

I think there was a post on the list about a month ago asking this and
ultimately, it would cost about as much to "upgrade" a GTA01 as it
would to buy a new GTA02 outright.

I heard that the most costly part of a device it the screen, and that the
screen IFAIK is the same for both systems, an upgrade would be
cost-effective.

Is this at all thinkable ?

As I understand it - no.

Basically, the screen is glued down, and will be difficult to remove.
All of the internal plastic needs changed - only the outside case is the
same.

Having said that - I'd like this.

In view of 'many' 1973's becoming obsolete and probably 'ridden' with
unfixable problems, would it be 'thinkable' to replace the

I heard that the most costly part of a device it the screen, and that the
screen IFAIK is the same for both systems, an upgrade would be
cost-effective.

Is this at all thinkable ?
