This assumes you've turned on your modem already...

kill -9 `ls -l1d /proc/*/fd/*|grep ttySAC0|cut -f3 -d/|grep -v self`

rejected, then I did a test with a samsung c170 and I got the message SIM
crashed (LOL)

SHR unstable).
Should I run any debugging tests (just for your info..)?

well, I had a non-working 3g card, but did the firmware upgrade and it
works ok now.
so i suggest you do the same
