Hi all
Been following these conversations for the last few days with interest and
dismay. We have become fractioned that we query and deem unnecessary such
important events. We probably need to go back to the core reason Afrinic
was created. let me recount our Vision and Mission:-

Dear Andrew,
I wonder about your motives that seem inappropriate to me this last couple
of months, in such that, with all respect due to you, I wanted to tell you
to stop paying your $50k annual fee, and go rent your resources to another
RIR. Afrinic will not died.
Please tell here if your
Just wanted to add – did you think I would be embarrassed by you leaking that?
Or attempt to deny it?
Dude – come on – get real – MANY people on that list that are on that group –
if I was ashamed of that post – well – I wouldn’t have posted it where half
this list could already see it – as
Yip – I said it – and I stand by everything I said in there.
And William – thanks for posting that We wondered who was leaking out of the
bad attitude group in direct contravention of the rules

Dear Community,
I came across a screenshot of a post (attached) by a member of AFRINIC
Community on ICANN Facebook page and would like to share with you.
Yes we may not have attained all our goals but the truth must be told that
we have made progress .

Folks,
We must really learn to appreciate sometimes...
To all the pioneers who will attend this, may you all enjoy this event as
the fruits of your work are evident all over this continent.

You mean the $10k to AFNOG who has not produced an audited financial statement
in 10 years?
The $17k to sponsor other meetings unspecified?
The (Roughly) $62k spent flying staff to off continent meetings – with no
explanation to the membership as to how this benefits the members who are
paying
Members,
The organization has a board that did it fiduciary duty and approved a
budget that was set aside for various activities for the financial year
2018. Its therefore the CEO's responsibility to manage the said budget
since this is part of his responsibility.
Now, If the CEO received an
New Role?
I was audit-co chair for a long time No longer on the board – but I still
feel the need to know how money is being spent when it’s the members money that
is being shelled out.
I point out – there was a point that AFRINIC was trading at an $80k a year
loss… through the work of
Actually these questions and answers are rather interesting. We weren’t
allowed to ask them at the AGMM, so I guess now is the time.
I am intrigued to see how much money is given to organisations that don’t
seem to have accountability what they get.

Please, allow him to work with the CEO.
Thanks

Andrew,
I try to avoid you so I don’t get drawn into time-wasting discussions. I
guess I am reacting to your flippant disregard for AFRINIC origins and your
attempt to disparage those that have worked to get us here.

Omo,
As a member that contributes fees to the organisation – at a rate of almost
$50k a year – I have every single right in the world – to understand how that
money is being spent. And I will continue to ask – especially when an event is
being held that is being paid for that is not on any

days of the event being announced.

This line of questioning is unnecessary and unbecoming. I am surprised the
CEO has time to respond to this.

The sponsorship is a lump sum. There is no additional or separate amount for a
cocktail.
