Dear group,
I just installed (following the wiki) 2008.9 on my FR and tried to connect
from a debian box. Applied the following:
---
Debian, Ubuntu and others
Edit /etc/network/interfaces and add:
auto usb0
iface usb0 inet static
address 192.168.0.200
netmask 255.255.255.0
Indeed that was the problem. 'allow-hotplug' instead of 'auto' is the
solution! PLEASE correct the WIKI asap!
Thanks for your prompt support
Cheers

I changed that to 192.168.0.0 but still the same problem!
When I plug FR in, the console displays the following:
usb 1-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address
I did ifdown/ifup on FR
netstat -rn on FR gives following output:
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags MSS Window irtt Iface
192.168.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 0 0 usb0
0.0.0.0 192.168.0.200 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 usb0
ifconfig in FR does display the usb0 interface with IP; 192.168.0.2002
Thanks

when I type (as root!) 'ip addr add 192.168.0.200/24 dev usb0', I get:
bash: ip: command not found

I installed it from the repository, it does start, I press on the rec

Also, the screenshots I saw in the wiki do not correspond to what I have

in the latest SHR unstable, the screenshot application does run from command

Thanks

Of course you can add your own gpe-scape.desktop which execute a shell
