The LCM has LCD controller and 4-wire resistive touchpanel, all integrated into one FPC to connect to mainboard. You'll hardly find a drop-in replacement that even uses same controller. /j -- () ascii ribbon campaign - against html e-mail /\ www.asciiribbon.org - against proprietary attachments ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

I ordered a new LCD from goldelico finaly. But i'm wondering if in the spirit of first PC-era specs could be published so there were more alts, eg: a more low-cost low-res display. (to be frank the LCD costs 58€. The vat, and trasport fees pump up the final value to 80€). alexandros. ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community

maybe just the connector got a bit loose? with help of the disassembling guide you should be able to check. I dont know if you've seen the image i sent. That screen could happen from a connector problem? I mean in the screen the tear is ,as i see it, apparent. If that's possible i'd be happy to try. ages ago i got an old laptop with similar issues, once i pressed the cable back into the connector the tear was gone. could've been conicidence, of course. I'm considering to buy an replacement part but i wouldnt mind if i could get a lower resolution with less money. look at it this way: if you're going to replace the screen, you have to disassemble the device anyway. so, why not trying? ___ Openmoko community mailing list community@lists.openmoko.org http://lists.openmoko.org/mailman/listinfo/community
