[cut] has lead me to push forward a wiki, mailing list and nabble based For a starter i discourage you from using nabble - it is evil ;) - it breaks one discussion into separate threads. It's a pain in the @ss for those who use normal mail software. Especially when it is capable of threading.

If you had the chance to build a community for the development of the Openmoko (hardware as well as software) what would you do and why? My 2 cents : I would open a mailing list _or_ a web forum but not both to avoid scattering people accross various medias. Also, maybe we should look for

That's a though question, especially due to the differences between a car and a phone. :) When it comes to pure Community building, IMHO the leaders seem to be Ubuntu; so you should probably talk to Jono Bacon or read his book. ;) Regarding the Openmoko community, I think it works better now
