Friends, This afternoon I resigned as a member of the Clinton Community Garden's steering committee.
My fellow steering committee members, good friends all, do not share my strong, personal disapproval of the current policies and direction of the NYC Parks Green Thumb program. The value of democratically elected and transparent garden governance is that we can vote policy up and down. And that friends can agree to disagree. As the garden's steering committee wishes to continue to maintain a cordial relationship with the current management of Green Thumb and to host the Parks Green Thumb's Annual Summer Solstice Celebration in 2006, the Clinton Community Garden's steering committee accepted my resignation, they say, with regret. My personal regret is that the tone of in my written comments about Edie Stone, Green Thumb's Director, were personal and unkind. And while I stand behind the statements I made about Green Thumb's policy and management, the ad hominem really has no place in the discussion of policy - my personal fault and one for which I apologize to Ms. Stone and to the readers of these listserves. I have chosen to continue my association with the CCG as a gardener and volunteer. However, any views that I have expressed or express in these forums have always been and remain my own, and should not be construed to reflect the views or policies of the Clinton Community Garden. Best wishes, Adam Honigman ______________________________________________________ The American Community Gardening Association listserve is only one of ACGA's services to community gardeners.
