Re: how to connect Mac SE/30 to a PC (Unix)?
Hi Gamba, Thanks a lot for your help. I'm trying to find this network cards without success but I will keep searching. Until that, I think I will opt for a null modem solution. Thanks again, Nuno Teixeira On Mon, Nov 25, 2002 at 06:09:30PM -0800, Gamba wrote: And why would one put a FPU on a SE/30 ethernetcard? how to connect Mac SE/30 to a PC (Unix)?
Hello to all, I've purchase a few weeks ago a Mac SE/30 but I don't have very knowledge about Mac. I'm having some problems to connect a SE/30 to a FreeBSD gateway (PC Unix) to access Internet. First I tried to find a network card like Farallon Ether Mac/PB Adapter (PN550C-ADB), Farallon EtherMac 30i-10T (PN594-TP) and Asante (MC+30IET64) but I didn't find anyone that sells it. The only card that I found for selling was a Asante MC-SEET but it only works with SE. Can anyone help me in other ways to connect my Mac to the gateway besides ethernet? Modem to modem (if possible), serial or printer connection? I would apreciate links or other documentation. Thanks in advance, Nuno Teixeira -- /* PGP fingerprint: C6D1 06ED EB54 A99C 6B14 6732 0A5D 810D 727D F6C6 */ -- Compact Macs is sponsored by http://lowendmac.com/. I'm having some problems to connect a SE/30 to a FreeBSD gateway (PC Unix) to access Internet. The only card that I found for selling was a Asante MC-SEET but it only works with SE. If I were in your situation I would buy the elusive ethernet card on eBay. Look for a seller who ships outside of the U.S. All of the following Asante cards have RJ-45 connectors and will work in the SE/30, some have the FPU chip, which must be removed. SE ethernetcards are not compatible with the SE/30. And why would one put a FPU on a SE/30 ethernetcard? It doesn't make sense because you will always have to remove it. Or am I missing something?
