This was actually fixed a few days after reporting. The issue was a
missing workaround distro patch for fglrx compiz detection. ATI promised
to fix this in the driver soon, so that the workaround won't be
necessary anymore - for now, the fix works and everything is fine.

reproducing it in unity is much harder, but I think the bug has the same

I don't think it's driver or gfx specific. The first test was with a sandy

I vote for
[x] Global Menu on
[x] Global Menu off
[x ] Global Menu only for maximized windows
I think is ok the switch on/off of global-menu (if this is the user's
will) but the third solution is really more ergonomical and a more
intelligent choice.

A screenshot showing the bug, workspace change can be seen in the
workspace applet.
The window doesn't move necessarily to the workspace you just changed
to. The only common point between the occurrences is that the windows
that change workspace were always placed originally in a edge.
**
As I have asked before: Isn't it possible to put the global menu into the
window decoration/caption bar for non-maximized windows?
So it would always be in the bar above the window. Nice, clean, logical and
consistent.
Otherwise I'm with the
[x] Global Menu only for maximized windows
I've changed the configuration to single monitor and the bug still
happens in GnomeClassic. I'm clueless...

Right now, the global menu and the action buttons are hidden after a
