Re: [Computer-go] A new ELF OpenGo bot and analysis of historical Go games

2019-02-16 Thread J. van der Steen

And most important:

  * Does ELF know the meaning of life?

Hi Remi,
thanks you for the link.

A few questions (to all who know something):

* How strong is the new ELF bot in comparison with Leela-Zero?

* How were komi values taken into account when analysing old go games with help
of ELF?

* How often does ELF propose moves played by AlphaGo (for instance in the games
with Fan Hui, Lee Sedol, and in the sixty games from December 2017)?

* Does ELF understand that the strength of AlphaGo increased from October 2015
to May 2017?

Cheers, Ingo.

Hi all,

Is there something wrong with the mailing list? I didn't see any
messages since the 23rd of May.

Re: [Computer-go] Question: Time Table World Championships

2017-03-09 Thread J. van der Steen

Normally it's 5*1min. If you play within one minute no byo-yomi time
will be substracted.

Thanks. Is it three hours, with sudden death? It says there is byo-yomi
from 5 minutes left, but didn't mention seconds per move, so it is just
a 300, 299, 288, 287, ... kind of countdown?

Re: [Computer-go] Very interesting presentation of Fan Hui about AlphaGo

2016-07-26 Thread J. van der Steen

Dear Alexander Kozlovsky,

Are the sheets of this presentation available somewhere by any chance.
The sheets are a bit hard to read in the video on YouTube.

The presentation was given at European Go Congress 2016 which currently
takes place in Saint-Petersburg.

The video startsat 25:00
, and sounds
appears at 25:45 .
Fan Hui shows some very unorthodox moves considered by AlphaGo in
self-play games, and announced that in a few weeks there will be a site
with commentaries on match games between AlphaGo and Lee Sedol and also
on AlphaGo self-play games. The commentaries were compiled by Fan Hui 2p
with support of Gu Li 9p and Zhou Rulyang 9p.
Regards, Alexander Kozlovsky

Hi Xavier,

Really nice comments by Antti Törmänen, to the point and very clear

Thanks. Has anyone (strong) made commented versions yet? I played
through the first game, but it just looks like a game between two
players much stronger than me :-)

(Ingo, are you analyzing them with e.g. CrazyStone? Is there a
particular point where it adjusts who it thinks is winning?)
