Conde Nast, Hearst, Meredith, News Corp., and Time Inc. are joining forces to produce a yet-to-be-named initiative that will allow consumers to read the companies' publications on electronic devices like smartphones, laptops, or e-readers... Though the venture was initially thought to only include magazines, the companies said Tuesday that it "may ultimately" include newspapers, books, comic books, blogs, and other media. "For the consumer, this digital initiative will provide access to an extraordinary selection of engaging content products, all customized for easy download on the device of their choice," John Squires, an executive vice president at Time Inc. and the venture's interim managing director, said in a statement. "Once purchased, this content will be 'unlocked' for consumers to enjoy anywhere, anytime, on any platform."
