in winXPhomeSP2 with Opera 9.2 and M$IE7 I am unable to get explorer
to accept to make opera the default app to read .mht files ...how come ? I select an .mht file, right click, select open with, browse
to opera's executable, select it, check "always open with" and click
"apply" and exit and it still goes to the DREADED M$IE !! (

above asked once be4 but didn't get the full story afaik)...

also, when I save pages as mht in Opera 9.2 browser, the resulting mht file sometimes doesn't load well in either browser. How is the mht spec generated? Is it a windows function or does the browser define it or what?

Same thing happened with the help files for my Epson scanner--kept
opening in IE instead of Firefox. I took the IE program and zipped it
[program file only], and now my default browser is the real default.

Why do you save anything as .mht????? MHT is not
standard for web pages, it's MHTML, a M$ archive and email format. Use
the standard web page file format, html, xhtml, etc. See w3.org/

Using IE's .mht format makes one blob, er, archive, instead of the
actual web page with associated images, links, video. When you
save web pages/sites in a standard format instead of M$'s attempt to
take over the browser world, you will be able to open your files in any
browser. By using .mht, it limits you to Internet Exploder and M$ whether
you choose them or not.
