[CGUYS] recommendations for Mac compatible printer

2007-05-14 Thread Terry Taylor

Many thanks to everyone who responded to my question.

I use color for craft projects (example,  color coded knitting patterns;
printing artwork for miniatures). The Stylus is a printer/scanner/copier,
in ad. However, in addition to the waste of the very costly ink and the
messy output. It appears, though, that multi-function isn't always the
most efficient way to go.

I'll keep your suggestions in mind when I start to shop in earnest for a
replacement.

2007-05-14 Thread Rev. Stewart Marshall
I saw on Cnet last night two printers that have a low cost per copy
print (color)

One was a Kodak and the other was a Canon Proxima.

Straight printers not multi function.

[CGUYS] Notebook for daughter

2007-05-14 Thread Marcio V. Pinheiro
I am looking for a notebook fir my daughter who is a school teacher.
She doesn't need a last model
with Vista and all. She could do with XP, an older model. Where do I
look for good notebooks at

a good price?

Many thanks

2007-05-14 Thread Rev. Stewart Marshall
If you want an older one you might try Dell refurbs they usually have
a good lot of refurbed Dells and most of these models will still have
XP on them.

Next is Compgeeks. (www.compgeeks.com)

Finally there is always Ebay but you want something that has some
guarantee on it.

Re: [CGUYS] OS 9 Emulator on Intel? [Was Macintosh Question]

2007-05-14 Thread Paul Meyer
They don't answer the question because the link to a ROM which
does not need TomeViewer is invalid now.

Michael Lewis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Paul Meyer sez:

Sheep saver needs a ROM (? - is that like bios) and you can download it from
Apple but you need TomeViewer to extract the file (TomeViewer reads apple
archives?) Does anyone now a compatible OSX program TIA

I believe the links I provided should answer these questions. I've never
used the software myself. I might when I purchase an Intel-Based Mac if
it will play some of the old games I like to load every now and then or
if I still need to get into some old WordPerfect files.

These are the main pages for SheepShaver. There are links to a help
center and lists/forums specifically for the software. The help center is:

Good luck!

Re: [CGUYS] Notebook for daughter

2007-05-14 Thread Alvin Auerbach

Does it play CDs? DVDs?

Does it burn CDs? DVDs?

Does it have a fax modem?

Does she need/want those functions?

Right now, you can get a Dell or an Acer 1.6 MHz with 1 Meg ram, 14 inch for
425 bucks from tiger.
If you are up for more bucks, I would get the Averatec 10 in, which is
lighter and slightly faster.
