Re: [CGUYS] vga port to port
One more basic question about this matter for you guys; if I get a VGA cable and hook up the video to my TV with a VGA port, and if I hook up an audio cable to the output on the side of the computer (3.5mm labeled stereo headphone jack out grouped near 3.5mm input and 3.5mm mic outlets) will it get amplified at the TV end enough to have adequate volume level, or do I need something for that? -Original Message- From: rleesimon [mailto:rleesi...@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, April 09, 2010 10:22 AM To: 'Chris Dunford' Cc: 'Stewart Marshall' Subject: RE: vga port to port Thanks ...you and the rev saved me from purchasing some junk that supposes to be a signal converter and is unnecessary for my use... -Original Message- From: Chris Dunford [mailto:seed...@gmail.com] Sent: Friday, April 09, 2010 10:09 AM To: 'rleesimon' Subject: RE: vga port to port Either one should work for the video. [CGUYS] Recommendation for MIDI to USB cable
Any MIDI knowledgeable users in the group? Just got a keyboard and would like to connect to my laptop. Looking for a good MIDI to USB cable. See some very cheap (like $6); any good? Also any concern about the cable vis-a-vis drivers for Win 7 64-bit? Don't want to go further with MIDI help in this group, so can anyone point me to a good group for MIDI education and support (like software, synthesizers, editors, recorders etc.). Thanks, Steve * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *

The cheap cable looks cheap, but cheap enough to give it a chance. Looks similar to eMedia one at guitarcenter.com. Try Hosa USB to MIDI at provantage.com for better quality and good price. My brother is a musician but can't recommend a group [he retired his synthesizer a few years ago]. Good luck. Does it have any other output? * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *

I did not say that I wanted to choke off advertising within applications. I actually cannot do anything about what tacks Apple takes. That said, it is true that I prefer not to be interrupted or distracted by advertising. Additionally, I do not like the term apps. That, I would like to choke off, and I do my best along those lines. Seems as though all too many want to speak and write everything as if they are using Twitter. My feeling about advertising within free applications is that it may become so successful in terms of generating revenue that paid applications, particularly those of the smaller, less heavily coded variety, could become a rarity, leading fairly soon to almost nothing but free applications that contain incessant and often intrusive commercial content. That, in turn, could eventually result in applications, both large and small, that do cost money yet also contain ads. We have all seen the invasive creep of advertising in other aspects of our lives. As computer makers and developers of all stripes begin to consider the possibility that users of certain types of devices will put up with almost anything in order to feed their habit, they will begin pulling out all the stops. Steve Jobs may eventually be able to claim credit for ramping up the charge into a mobile computing/phone experience saturated in and perhaps even dominated by commercialism.
