[CGUYS] Substitute for OpenOffice?

Did somebody on this list fairly, but not terribly, recently suggest a
substitute for OpenOffice? better.

Open Office is no longer being updated or has changed.

Libre Office is its successor.

I cant remember who or where I saw this, but there are some concerns 
that since Oracle has taken over Sun that Open Office will not remain 
Open for much longer.


A number of the folks moved over to Libre Office and are developing it instead.

Very similar projects and programs.

LibreOffice http://www.documentfoundation.org/ does appear to be 
an effort at an evolution of OpenOffice, but it seems to come from a 
different organization not related to Oracle (formerly Sun).

Are you sure about that, Stewart? I just went to the site 
http://www.openoffice.org/ and there was no mention of that. In fact, 
they just announced an update.
