[CGUYS] Troubleshooting Win7 Devices and Printers

2010-02-05 Thread Quentin A. Fisher
When I select this from the menu (in order to set a default printer) the little
green scroll bar moves SLOWLY to the right but never gets all the way. Even
after 24 hours! I have a scanner and two printers, and both work well; its only
this devices and printers manager that hangs up.

Anyone have an idea where to even start to troubleshoot this annoyance?

Re: [CGUYS] Odd Time Stamp Problem

2008-11-05 Thread Quentin A. Fisher
Allen - You are exactly right; and MS's support forums show a lot of
queries on this bizarre piece of engineering!
Question - Can I use convert.exe in Vista to make the WD external drive
an NTFS? Will it save my data? The drive is about 2/3 full.

Thanks

Your Vista machine is probably using NTFS for its file system. Your
external drive is probably using FAT32. NTFS handles DST correctly,
while FAT32 does not.

Solution is to upgrade the external drive to NTFS (or some other real
file system).
