 Hello,
Congratulations on becoming a Retrevo member. Our free service offers
 more than 100,000 manuals.
Now that you've created your own personal account on Retrevo, why not
let us store the manuals for all your gadgets. Click here to build
your personal bookshelf of manuals. You will never have to go
 searching for a manual again.

I've been doing something like this for years locally. Have a sort of local
web site with pages for kitchen, laundry, outdoors, etc. Each page has
pictures of things that link to their online
manuals or local PDFs. When we get a new gizmo I just add it. The whole thing
is in a public folder, so it's available from anywhere on the network. Works
great.

The wife keeps the manuals in the pockets of a divider in a notebook
she keeps on the cookbook shelf in the kitchen. I've gotten in the
habit of writing the purchase date on the front cover of said manual.
Very simple, very easy. Also works great.

We used to keep them in hanging folders in a file cabinet but decided that we
needed a better mousetrap when we couldn't fit them in one drawer any more. g

The other advantage to this is that PDF manuals are searchable.

I discovered it back around February when I was looking for a manual
for a friends all in printer/fax/scanner ( I believe it was an HP). The
only cost appears to be periodic emails from them.

Steve

P.S. - It is one of the things I always liked about the Apple web site
all the manuals, but it has always been limited just to theirs.

Then there are items sold with NO manuals! I have one of those
remote sensor thermometers and needed to change the batteries last
week. I knew there was some sort of trick to setting them up. I
never throw ANY manual away, but seemed to remember we had to go
online to find the instructions.

The web site is written on the back of the thermometer! Very
convenient--as long as one has access to a computer. :) I did print
off a couple of pages though, for the few things that I might really
need to know in the future, and put them in the file with my other manuals.

Most newer electronics do not come with manuals. It is either on a
CD or on line. I prefer downloading them to my computer that way I
know where they are.

Most of my new electronics come with a manual on CD...
I just copy it to MY DOCUMENTS\MANUALS\ folder.
When I move to a new computer, all my manuals come with me.
Keeping up with the CD is too much trouble.
