Re: [CGUYS] Google Chrome
There is no real need to switch for everything. I use different search engines for different things. I like Chrome for some things and it is faster than Firefox with a tons of add ons. Try it and figure out what you like it for. Chrome was more secure for at least one exploit that escapes me now. Chrome gets continuous silent updates. So it tends to be more up to date than systems who wait to patch. Re: [CGUYS] Google Chrome
I know there was some discussion here in July about Google Chrome, but any new feedback? Is it worthwile to switch from Firefox? I don't know about switching from Firefox, but Google Chrome/Chromium now functions quite well and reliably as a browser. If there is something that really annoys you about Firefox, switch, if you're satisfied with Firefox, do not switch. Browsers all have quirks and weak points, but which are unbearable is a matter of personal choice, with Internet Exploder excluded, it just all too many holes and exploits for me. Also please note the following copied from your message. The AOL server is not used much any more, the group has switched to yahoo groups. *** ** THIS LIST HAS MOVED TO YAHOO** ** PLEASE JOIN THE DISCUSSION THERE ** ** Info at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *** There should be such an indication at the bottom of my message too. *** ** THIS LIST HAS MOVED TO YAHOO** ** PLEASE JOIN THE DISCUSSION THERE ** ** Info at http://www.cguys.org/ ** ***

Microsoft says hey, that thing just give malware more attach points and makes our browser less secure -- which cause a lot of chuckling around the blogosphere. After all, Chrome is a pretty secure browser and was the only one not to fall at Pwn2Own this year. However, as Sophos Labs' Mike Wood points out, there's one big, nasty side effect that hasn't been talked about: social engineering malware. So how long will it be before someone decides to inject a bogus you need Google Chrome Frame popup on some compromised website? http://www.downloadsquad.com/2009/09/26/chrome-frame-presents-a-golden-opportunity-for-malware-authors/ So is the M$ line that we should all forgo an improved IE because some of us are fatally stupid? * ** List info, subscription management, list rules, archives, privacy ** ** policy, calmness, a member map, and more at http://www.cguys.org/ ** *

Tom is again either misinformed or just carrying Apple's water once again. Google voice does not in any way 'reengineer' the iphone. Only if you think an app like rhapsody reengineers it or one of those photo swimsuit apps. Apple is just being it's over controlling self in the google voice rejection, and that's their right. I'll take my soon to be here HTC hero any day over the iPhone. Ok, changing the subject about Google Chrome: I am webmaster of a site that offers download playing of music for those who want to hear it. I have tested the web site on all major browsers, but only Chrome fails to open the music for playing. I sent a complaint to Google about this when it first came out as a beta, but so far no change from them. The website is at http://riversidesax.info/ Go to Listen page to try it. Any suggestions? Anyone with chrome on their system when encountering the problem will just open the link in firefox. I'd not worry about it playing in chrome much.
