Re: [CGUYS] OS 9 Emulator on Intel? [Was Macintosh Question]
They don't answer the question because the link to a ROM which does not need TomeViewer is invalid now. Michael Lewis [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Paul Meyer sez: Sheep saver needs a ROM (? - is that like bios) and you can download it from Apple but you need TomeViewer to extract the file (TomeViewer reads apple archives?) Does anyone now a compatible OSX program TIA I believe the links I provided should answer these questions. I've never used the software myself. I might when I purchase an Intel-Based Mac if it will play some of the old games I like to load every now and then or if I still need to get into some old WordPerfect files. These are the main pages for SheepShaver. There are links to a help center and lists/forums specifically for the software. Here is a blog article by someone who has installed and used it: http://uneasysilence.com/archive/2006/08/7352/ There is also BasiliskII http://basilisk.cebix.net/. It emulates older 68K macs and can run older Macintosh systems. From it's homepage: Emulates either a Mac Classic (which runs MacOS 0.x thru 7.5) or a Mac II series machine (which runs MacOS 7.x, 8.0 and 8.1), depending on the ROM being used. -- Michael Lewis Off Balance Productions 240-271-9889 [EMAIL PROTECTED] www.offbalance.com * == QUICK LIST-COMMAND REFERENCE - Put the following commands in == * == the body of an email send 'em to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] == * Join the list: SUBSCRIBE COMPUTERGUYS-L Your Name * Too much mail? [CGUYS] OS 9 Emulator on Intel? [Was Macintosh Question]
I also run Mac OS 9, but I run it as Classic on my Mac OS 10.4.9 G5 iMac. It runs better and faster than it did in my older machines. Mac OS 9 Forever!! Under Classic I run FileMaker Pro, ver. 3.0v5, copyright 1984-1999. Eight years old. Under Classic I run Canvas 5, ver. 5.0.3, copyright 1987-1996. I've just started to use it. When I purchased it, I was told that it would run fine on my Mac Performa 450, but it did not. I put it on the shelf and just recently installed it, and it runs great! Eleven years old. Under Classic I run Panorama II, ver. 2.1.3, copyright 1991. Sixteen years old. Under Classic I run Calculator+, release 2, copyright 1985-1987 (Part of SideKick desk accessories). I like it's tape function better than the one in Apple's Calculator. **Twenty years old!!! It still works. MY question is: When some year I purchase a MacIntel computer, will there be an emulator for it that will run Mac OS 9? Mac OS 9 Forever!! That is what I'm using at the moment (with a $99 accelerator card that boosts it to 300 MHz). Very nice computer. It runs everything through the end of OS 9.
