[CGUYS] Q: what are current best practices for limiting email spam?
I am doing some research for a mayor and council of a small town as a favor. I am researching on line but think you all may have some hidden gems that might not readily show up in a search. Several thoughts come to mind: - Since the town may also have a website, it sounds like its not unreasonable to have a web form on the site instead of any other email way to get a hold of the government. You can put a CAPATCHA or other bot-obstacles in front of the form. - Route email through something like gmail, which keep up-to-date on the current spam methods and do a pretty good job at making sure that they filter out the junk. - Figure out why they really want or need email. There may be other methods that are more suitable. Is the email so they can communicate with each other, or with constituents? How about a forum (possibly that allows anonymous posting, if thats appropriate) with a CAPATCHA?You might not even need the CAPATCHA if its just for internal discussions.
