I like the idea of the optical card for the PC but in my brief search,
they look way overpriced for my needs (they cost more than the
computer). In the meantime, I will keep a lookout for a nice used Mac.

What brand interface is it?
You may need to toggle a monitor switch on the unit or change a setting
in in the software controls. Or you could try having it plugged in and
powered up when you start the computer.

You will need to tell the computer and Audacity to use the USB
interface rather than the built in audio hardware. This may require
a driver installation and may even require reading the directions <

First time setting up this cassette to computer dubbing and I'm not
hearing any audio through the computer. The cassette player is connected
to a USB interface through RCA audio jacks. When I plug the USB
