[CGUYS] laptop shuts down

My *fully charged *ASUS laptop, not v. old, shuts down if I unplug it.
what could be causing this?

   It sounds like a battery problem.

Have you tried removing and reinserting the battery while it is fully charged? 
Sometimes the computer gets confused about the state of the battery and doing 
this will reset things. You may also want to look if there is a way to reset 
the laptop's power manager. I do not know enough about SSUS to tell you how.
