Why do some Windows Media (wmv) files permit using the FF and REW
buttons or the slider to move forward and backward during playback, and
others don't?
The buttons can be turned off so advertisers can force you to watch the
most important parts of the program.
The person encoding the file sets these options at the time of
conversion. Often it has nothing to do with advertisers and everything
to do with unfamiliarity with the encoder.
